Software Updates

Interesting... this might prove a problem for me if true, my parking is an underground with no cellular or Wi-Fi, so it's not like it can install updates on its own when parked overnight.

I think it may download while driving and then offer to install while parked.

On my 22 in the menu there is a check for updates selection.

So I guess I have to pull my car out of the garage every first Tuesday of the month to do updates then...

I see both sides of it. It's obviously annoying and potentially frustrating for those who cannot easily upgrade, but on the flip side if they are pushing fixes that are critical to the car then they have to find some way to enforce it. They better communicate like crazy though, the policy change and whenever a required update is pushed.

This ^^^^ exactly. Send out an email or something to look for an update in the next X days/weeks. When it's not done within X timeframe, send another email. Oh, and GM, make sure the updates work when you send them.

Woa woa let's not get crazy with this common sense stuff. We haven't even gotten to clearly telling customers what version they're on and what version is the current one.

Fine, but I have tried multiple times to download the update, unsuccessfully, in a 2025 CT5-V BW. Tried different locations and disconnecting from my house's WiFi but the update will not download and install. What are we supposed to do in this situation?

Have the dealership apply it manually.

My '76 Firebird had the same issue. Eventually the 8-track player just stopped working completely because I couldn't install the auto-downloaded OTA software update. I had to leave a cassette player in the passenger seat to listen to Jet Airliner.

God, I loved my 8-track player. No tape rewinding. Up to four songs available at the push of a button. Sometimes even get to hear two songs playing simultaneously. Audio technology at its finest!
