PSA Regarding Bayed / Shipping

My early (July 2017) ZL1 1LE was delivered via covered carrier. 🤷🏻‍♂️
my 18 or 19 ZL1 1LE cars were not shipped in enclosed carriers nor my 19 ZR1 , my 08 XLR V and 10 ZR1 were shipped in enclosed trucks though

When was your 18 ZL1 1LE delivered?

July 5th of 2018
That’s nearly a year later than mine was delivered. I knew that they had stopped doing the covered carrier deliveries at some point I wasn’t sure when.

All the BW were checked for airbag recall all good to my knowledge. Also no exterior protection on cars as somebody asked.

thank goodness G.M. is on top of that , it wouldn't look very good their halo car has a stop sell order on them before they are even shipped

I had asked about the exterior protection. So none you are telling me. What would everyone suggest i protect the car with for a 300 mile trip from dealer to detailer on an open trailer?

I have used the one time plstic wrap many use for track days. Cheap, just quickly tack on front and other areas and call it a day. Track armour is one or some come in big sheets as well.

So I just tried to check the CSX shipping schedules to the northeast from the TDSI facility in New Boston, MI. It wouldn't give me times to the closet TDSI facility (East Brookfield, MA), but it would show me times to the next closest stop in Selkirk, NY. It looks like trains only leave once per day, Sunday through Thursday, and the trip takes a whopping six days and fifteen hours. Not sure whether to laugh or cry that it takes almost as long to get a GM product from Michigan to the east coast as it does to get a BMW product across the ocean from Bremerhaven.

Edit: Just looked it up, it's roughly the same distance by rail from BMW's factory in Munich to the port in Bremerhaven as it is from the TDSI facility in New Boston to the one in Selkirk. They load the cars direct onto trains from the factory, and the train gets to port within a day. We have to truck the cars to the rail yard, then it takes the train a week to travel the same distance by rail. If you wanted an argument in support of the need for infrastructure improvements, I think you have it right there...

I couldn't even find a CSX schedule/route to the west...

I think it's a different carrier out west, which is probably why those cars went to Toledo rather than New Boston. CSX's map looks like it only runs east of the Mississippi.
West would almost certainly transfer to Union Pacific or UP/BNSF if bit more in the south west.

Just a poking a little fun!

palsapp.com - type VIN or freight bill # into the search field, find the trip number, and then you can go back and search by trip number to see the whole truck!

My VIN updated to paired with my dealer as the delivery location this morning. First movement I've had in over a week.

I'm probably overlooking this, but I dont see a trip number when I put the VIN or freight bill # in. Maybe I need to advance past paired? Sorry I'm more of a scruffy looking nerf herder than a padawan.

*Figured it out. The trip number was on the link on page 1 which then gave me the truck data on the palsapp website. There only one other Blackwing on my truck, which is about what I figured for my area.

Can anyone explain the asn date of 7-28 and bayed date of 8-9?

ASN date is the date that Jack Cooper gets notification that it is coming to them (read: enters their system)
. Bayed date is the first date that it is in their custody

as far as I can tell... Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
