Precision Package

So partly based on the urging of folks on this forum, partly because of FOMO, and partly because I enjoy spirited drives on mountain and canyon roads here in SoCal, I decided to add the precision package to my CT5 V BW 6MT, which I should be getting in a few weeks. I plan to use this car as a daily in Los Angeles with the occasional twisty road excursion or fun road trip. I have a different car (718 GTS 4.0 6MT) for AX or committed sports car duty. But I figured if the precision package brings some of the same communication and responsiveness I've grown accustomed to my Porsche to a much bigger car (and spare me some brake dust in the offing), it'll be worth it to me.

My questions are:
1. For those who are not using their PP BWs as dedicated track toys, are there any specific configuration settings I should specify when the car is delivered to make it suitable for road use?
2. Should any additional components that ship with the car be installed at the dealership? I assume the additional toe links are for track-focused alignments, but is there any reason to install them on a road car?
3. Anything else I should know about the package?

Thanks!

Hi. I’ve had my car for almost a year - 26 5V BW 6mt with precision. The dealer did not install the toe links when I picked up the car. I did not have them installed till months later. They installed and did an alignment. I don’t know if it was just the toe links or the car needed an alignment but I definitely noticed a difference. Car felt meaningfully better in corners and no downside to the install.

I’ll add I’ve never tracked this car. I have a 1 year old and still wanted a manual car with some HP. It’s been awesome. Car is also very comfortable. I think all the talk of the precision package being a punishing ride is from people who have never driven it.

The factory alignment was quite a bit away from spec on my car. Especially the toe being quite off. So just a proper alignment will help the feel of the car. Installing the new rear links is a no brainer if you are doing an alignment anyway. You can still get the street alignment with the new links installed.

Other than that, nothing specific to the package other than hopefully you have the PS4 and not the Cup2 tires. The PS4 last longer and are much quieter.

The PP car is not harsh at all. My wife hated riding in my prior 2 sports cars but absolutely the PP 5BW.

Install the links, my experience with after market links is an improvement. Why spend all that money on the PP and not get the full benefits.

That’s a good point from Nordique. I had them put PS4s on. I imagine the cups ride a lot harsher

Mine came with the Cups and I have decided to put VS-5RS's on with PS4S's after reading about the noise, ride and tread wear with the them.

PP was not an option I would have chosen if I had the opportunity to build the car, but after a couple of weeks with it, I am definitely glad it has it. I don't find the ride too harsh, but I regularly drive a buggy sprung hot rod.

I had them put the toe links on and street/track alignment before I picked it up. I do plan on tracking the car with maybe a couple thousand street miles a year. From what I could gather during the PDI they put this piece on the front but also another piece to the left that I’m supposed to take off for track use. I know it was stated that they no longer use shipping blocks in the springs but I had 4 green ones in the trunk when I opened it, plus the foam rotor protectors. I didn’t have fasteners in the holes in front of the back tires, so they ordered them for me. Check wheels inside edge and out for possible curb rash, and the lower edge of the doors, I had a small ding on the bottom of the driver door that was probably from transporter.
