Newbie questions..trade a M4 for 2025 CT5-V Blackwing

I’m considering trading my 2021 M4 manual. A few questions.

1 When does the Cadillac 2025 build tool go live? Looks like it is just 2024 for now?

2 I’m not sure if I should order one to my spec or wait for them to come out and just try dealers within 300 miles or so from NYC where I am. For my build looking for the new blue color, both carbon packages, upgraded seats, manual transmission, no sun roof or precision package.

3 There are good deals on the remaining 2024s. Could I get any deal if I order one or try to get an early one at a dealer?

4 How long would it take to get one delivered once ordered?

When are the dealer ordered models supposed to go arrive?

Can you get snow tires for this? I would not drive during a storm but once plowed would like to.

Any other thoughts in general?

Morning:

1) Not sure when the build tool goes live. Orders can be placed through dealers though.
2) This is an absolute personal decision on whether to order spec or not. Know that dealers are BARELY getting allocations, and certain "spec" items may be under constraint (I.e. carbon packages are already under constraint and you cannot order them).
3) Again, if you can find something ALREADY build, on a LOT, with most of the stuff you want (especially carbon), I would do a 2024. But I'm not bothered by not having the "curved" screen on the dash. We already own an Escalade, so I technically have my classic style Cadillac luxury cruiser that I don't drive fast.
4) Mine took 18 months for delivery (spec).
5) Yes, you can fit them with snow tires.
6) Great, great vehicle.

This is a super helpful forum, everyone here is awesome. Many of the questions you asked have long threads of discussion on them. Low production volume = small club = sharing of important info becomes super important. If you take the plunge, you won't regret it.

Wow, if you can’t order the two carbon packages I guess I will need to dial around once they begin coming out. 18 months is a crazy long time for deliver of a custom spec. It’s into the following model year. Thanks

Constraints change constantly. You may be able to get all options that you want. I received my car 4 months after I received an allocation and waited 6 months to get an allocation. Not too bad actually. I like your style of build…exactly what I did for my 2024 coastal blue ct5-v blackwing, I will say it is an impossible spec to find on a dealer lot especially without sunroof so plan on ordering one the way you want and be patient…you will get one! Try a higher volume blackwing dealer to get an allocation.

To order, you need to find a dealer with an allocation they are willing to let you use and frankly this is the biggest hurdle. The units that show up on various online portals are often sold orders.

You might get lucky, but most of us here had way more than a fleeting desire to own one. I don't think 18 months is an accurate reflection what you can expect if you do find an allocation, mine was about 5 months. Some folks count the time they went to the dealer and got in the allocation queue which is nothing more than entering a backorder in the GM workbench. Without an allocation, sitting at 1100 status is just slightly better than nothing. Whatever the length of time, be ready for the months long emotional turmoil referred to as the Goat Rodeo.

Allocation to delivery more accurately was ~ 6-7 months.

Bottom line @CleanSheet , I would take one on the lot that has most of what you want if you can. However, if you want spec, I don't think it will take as long as mine did.. I was told by my dealer that mine was an order for a 2022, then got bumped to 2023. MInd you, it was still in the middle of all the supply chain woes, etc.

I believe if you deal with someone like The Blackwing King at Sewell in Dallas (he is on this forum), and things might be much much better for you.

Thanks all. My local dealer has a build for end of January that has everything I want except the full carbon. I think I will put a refundable deposit down for it. Is it hard to find one with full carbon? I guess the good news is I save 12,000.

Unfortunately, yes. HOWEVER, I was able to piecemeal mine together. I ordered without carbon to fill allocation. My dealer then ordered an OEM carbon spoiler, OEM splitter, OEM front deflectors, etc. Others on this forum got aftermarket carbon fiber kits as well (Terrence Sig, Savage Cadillac, etc). It'll take time, and you can pre-order it once your allocation is accepted by Cadillac, but it can be done if you want it.

I'm happy without the Carbon 2 package (seats). I got the mid-tier seats, and find them very comfortable (more than those in our Escalade).

Carbon 2 is actually the door rocker trim and rear diffuser. Top tier semi-aniline seats can be ordered with or without exterior carbon.

While trying to custom order a Black Diamond Tricoat, I had only included CF1. I was unsuccessful in ever having that order picked up, but when I bought the car I currently have, it came equipped with all carbon packages. For me, the semi-aniline seats are the one option I would prioritize the most. I have owned both the mid tier and the top tier, and the top are well worth the money. But having both CF1 and CF2 is killer on the exterior. While I would not have ordered CF2, I'm so glad to have it. These carbon bits set the Blackwings apart. The good news is Blackwing driving character is available without any of these pricey options. I got my car to keep for the long term, and I'm happy to have all the upgrades.

There seems to be some confusion about the meaning of allocation. Allocations are handed out by GM to dealers on a weekly basis. It is not something the end purchaser gets. Every car in dealer inventory is the result of an allocation given and then used by a dealer.

Any cars that were ordered in the 2021-22 time frame were in the period where all cars (and especially theses) were hard to get. This does not reflect current waiting periods.

Yes, that is correct. I know on 2024s, there was an option to do a "carbon seat back delete", meaning you get the full semi-aniline, but they credit back around $2500 for not getting the carbon seat backs (I don't recall the exact number). Again, I owned both seats before getting my current 2024 that has them, and they are a favorite upgrade for me. I like mine with carbon backs, but the semi aniline is worth getting either way.

To your original topic, I owned a 2022 M4 Comp xDrive. That was an auto of course, but the CT5-V Blackwing is just so much more fun to drive. And if you are getting manual, I think you will greatly prefer the crispness of the Tremec. Regarding the seats, I had the full Tartufo leather, and there is no denying how awesome they are. The Caddy SA seats are a bit more sporty though, and I really love them.

I bought my 2022/5BW from Paul Conte Cadillac in Freeport. Paid MSRP, no nonsense negotiation. They did try an upsell the wheel/tire warranty and I declined it. I would buy from them again , no problem.

And if you are getting manual, I think you will greatly prefer the crispness of the Tremec. Regarding the seats, I had the full Tartufo leather, and there is no denying how awesome they are. The Caddy SA seats are a bit more sporty though, and I really love them.

I can't really address any of the questions any better than anyone else has, but I will echo @668LT4's comments - I came from a G82 M4 properly equipped with 3 pedals, and never once ever even for a moment regretted the move to the Blackwing (also properly equipped).
