V-Series Cadillac(s)?
'17 ATS-V (Sold), '22 4BW Auto (Sold), 2023 5BW Manual
Just wanted to create a post to share my love for this car, my mods and experience with it. This makes car #23 (coincidence it is the GOAT?) for me in 16 years since I got my first vehicle, a 6 speed 2003 CTS. Had many other cars in between but when they came out, I wanted a CTS-V but ended up with an ATS-V Auto. I went to the V-Academy and loved the experience and the car but always left me wishing I had found a manual and that it was the bigger car and engine. Since that ATS-V, I've had a few other cars and when the 5BW announcement came out I knew I wanted one. After the local dealership 10 mins away never came through with allocations or a list, I ended up buying a C8 Z51, just thinking that it'd be nearly impossible to get into a 5BW. Then I ended up meeting the GM from a dealership 45 mins away and he told me I could get to the top of their list.
Not knowing what would happen, I ended up trading the C8 for a loaded 4BW (wife disliked the C8) he had in the showroom and placed my order on July 26, thinking it would be at least another year to finally get my 5BW. To my surprise, my order got picked up Aug 5 and on Sept 27 my car was built! Good news, bad news. There was a 5BW that could very well be mine from order to delivery but the value of my 4BW and rates had taken quite a hit. After much consideration, I knew there was no other car I really wanted and that I would want to keep and enjoy (I looked hard), so I took the depreciation hit (I kind of justified it to myself as ADM, since I was getting it at MSRP) and took the final plunge. After much effort and/or luck, the car was finally delivered December 29, 2022. I watched it come off the truck, go through PDI, etc. and ended up taking it home that same day. The PDI went well other than a couple of blemishes and scratches on the hood that were buffed out, a couple tiny dents on driver's side door area (transport?) and the V emblem on the inside hood liner was not adhered properly (dealer told me they'd order a new one). More on paint after correction work is completed this week...

I have driven it less than 200 miles, but it is already my favorite car ever. I love the engine, transmission, suspension, steering feel, look, convenience, technology. I haven't opened it up, as I baby it through the break in period, but I agree with all the reviews I've read and videos I've watched that call it the GOAT. I hope it's a vehicle that will satisfy my curiosity for exploring driving dynamics, my needs as a working father, my desire for fun drives, peace of mind, quality, warranty and value.

I had to buy winter wheels and tires so I could drive it in Iowa, since half the year the PS4'S would be unsafe. I did some research here and other places and ended up buying a set that looks really good and seem to perform OK (no real snow tests yet). One of the wheels came with a paint-off scratch but TireRack made it right and sent me a new wheel. I had that set installed post PDI, so will have dedicated winter and summer sets. I also hardwired my radar detector (Escort Redline 360c) to the side compartment fuse and ran the smart cable to a very easy to access position.

I thought I wouldn't love the look of the car as much without the carbon fiber since I stayed away from constrained packages, but I really love the look of the white and black contrast, so that's becoming my theme, along with the few red accents of the seat piping and brakes. I still want a spoiler, seems to complete the aggressive, sporty look, so I'm looking for one that will go with my theme, I think black painted. I would like to change all badges to black with color, instead of the stock chrome ones as well.

I dropped it off for paint correction, clear PPF, roof black gloss PPF, ceramic coating, interior and glass protection yesterday and should have it back by Friday. Looking forward to enjoying it more. I'm still pinching myself and trying to figure out if this dream of mine actually became true! What a great, complete machine this is. Thanks to honest dealers out there, GM, Cadillac, those awesome engineers who pushed the boundaries and delivered an amazing car. Thanks to this community for all the help, patience, encouragement and knowledge shared. I hope to pay it forward to this forum through this thread and in my day to day! Carpe Diem!

Nice ride! It looks like the wait wasn't completely horrible from order to delivery which is nice. Just in time for a belated christmas gift!

I also have to deal with the wait and depreciating trade in values and rising interest rates, hopefully I don't take a complete bath by the time my 5BW shows up. My car was built a week after yours, hopefully they were both goat mates in the pen!

I sure do wish GM would offer a non carbon spoiler/splitter for these cars, especially considering the carbon is always on constraint and costs a butt load. Seriously GM, just give us a carbon flash cheaper spoiler option, we would all be very happy.

Did yours come with the Blackwing badge on the trunk?

No, it did not. I just had a courtesy call from Cadillac Executive Office and asked her to add me to the list and she said I'd get it by March. So you could say I'm not totally off the pen yet :)

I like your winter wheels. What are they?
They look great in person. If they made wider sizes I would run year-round. These are a square set up- 20x9 inch wrapped in 275 Vredestein winter tires. They look amazing though in this size, only negative is they are a bit tucked in in the front, but I am thinking a bit of a spacer may solve that problem. More details below:

Why do I feel like I won't get any courtesy call when I get my car (thanks Canada).

Huge congrats! I roll exactly the same and support the decision to eat the small loss to get what you really want. Long term, the manual 5 is going to hold value extremely well. I also had a 4 Blackwing before my 5. It's a really nice car, and it seems the majority of reviewers prefer it to the 5. But not me. I put 2000 miles on my 4 and have only 600 on my 5, and it's just a totally different machine. Not at all better, but different in ways I prefer. Sounds like you do as well. Good to have such choices.

Congrats again!!

Congrats on the car. Your experience with this car will interest me. Have a 2001 C5 manual. Bought a C8 thinking it would be the end all car for me. Love the C8 and it was incredibly fast from 0-80 but after that it was really good but left me wanting more. That and the DCT made the whole car feel like a surgical knife but not all that thrilling. I hope that the 5 BW will give me that beast / visceral fun factor that the C8 was missing for me. I will keep the C5 for the old school fun car and hopefully the 5 BW will be the comfortable all round hooligan retired guy car. Keep us posted.

I had a C8 alongside my 7MT Z06. I sold the C8 within 6 weeks. I preferred the raw thrilling nature of the C7 vs the C8 and the DCT. The C8 was a good car, but very clinical, the C7 was raw but still very accurate. I liked the manual more.

What I'd really like is a C7 with a C8 interior.

Congrats for you! My 5BW kind of reminds me of my old GTS Viper in a lot of ways. I have to agree the BW is a fun car, I only have 400 miles on the clock so hopefully in the spring I will be able to fully enjoy her.

Best of luck!

All BWs should come with a non carbon spoiler/splitter, with the option to upgrade to CF. I don't understand why they would make the 'base' BW look like a V.

Looks like www.SavageCadillac.com sells the type of spoilers you want. Am I wrong?

Looks like they do, I'll have to see if they're exact replica's that would mount the same way.
I'd be curious if anyone else has this one. It looks like it's a bit different, going a little further down into the taillights. I think the stock one looks a lot better, just based on pictures so open to being proven wrong. I'm also on the list for reproduction spoilers from @Terrance Sig and I think I would prefer his but haven't heard where he is in production or where I am on his list.

Congratulations on finally getting yours. Your post elicited the still recent and elated thoughts I too had. It's only been 6 months since receiving mine but every time I walk out to my garage I can't help but smile upon laying eyes on my 5BW. I do feel a pang of envy seeing so many other cars out there that did get CF including every single press car out there🤬 I too down the road hope to add spoilers at both ends but will consider either body color(Rift) or straight black.
Mainly wanted to give kudos to a well written thread. Thanks for expressing what I'm sure a good portion of members here have/are/will soon feel.
