CT5-V Manual 25 Blackwing no blindspot monitoring. Why

CT5-V Model
I looked at the difference in parts on a 2025 vs 2026 manual transmission car.

Driver’s side mirror housing:
2025 - part #42885280 $422.38
2026 - part #42885274 $427.55

Mirror glass:
2025 - part #23177535 $231.70
2026 - part #23432527 $76.38

Bezel, molding, cap and gaskets are all the same part number.

I checked an automatic 2025 (which has blind spot detection) and it has the same part numbers as the manual 2026 above.

I was hoping that it was only the mirror glass that was different. If it was, I would have just bought them and given it a try. Given the similar price on the housing, I bet the only difference might be an extra wire or two.

So updating a manual 2025 to have blind spot detection will require new left and right housing and mirrors from an automatic 2025 or a 2026 car. This assumes the underlying software would support it if the hardware was changed out.

I think there’s a lot more to the equation, including control modules and coding.

When scanning my 2025 MT, there are no “side view monitoring” modules present. I think those are supposed to be located at the rear bumper corners, not in the mirror heads themselves.

Blind spot monitor overview ->. Site Maintenance

I’d bet the wiring harnesses are different, too…

I assumed everything was self contained in the mirror. Good to know that it is more than just that. No way I am even going to contemplate changing out a bumper or reprogramming the car. I guess manual 2025 models will remain the only 5BW without blind spot detection.
