Lug Nut Torque

Notice to all Blackwing owners (and Non-Blackwing), I was just in the process of taking my wheels off to install some stone chip guards on my 26 CT4-V Blackwing, when loosening the lug nuts I noticed they were turning much easier than I expected, so I grabbed my torque wrench set to the factory spec of 140 ft lbs (Blackwing Spec) and proceeded to tighten some of the nuts that were not yet touched and found they were turning on average a quarter turn before the wrench clicked off ! Don't know where the fault lies here (factory or dealer) ? but this is a very unsafe condition in my opinion. I would encourage all owners of these vehicles to ASAP check on your own or bring to the dealer and have the wheel lugs re-torqued to make sure they are in spec.

The one thing the dealer did correctly at my free oil change and tire rotation was to torque the lugs to 140 ft-lbs. Not sure I trust them to do anything more complicated.

Yea I'm bettin that rechecking torque on wheel lugs is a part of the dealer prep checklist that is supposed to be done on all new vehicles before they go out to the customer, just glad I found this in my garage and not out on the highway
