Has CT5-BW production stopped?

Hey everyone,

I along with two others at my dealership have submitted builds to GM for custom CT5-BW, and they've been in a holding pattern for a few weeks now. My dealer rep is worried that production on that car may have closed, though I had thought that GM would continue producing the current generation cars until at least December. Have you guys heard anything indicating that GM is no longer accepting builds on a blanket basis, or that all remaining build slots may be filled up?

Thanks,

Arka C.

The dealership needs to have an allocation for a BW for GM to accept a build. Are they saying that they think they should have received an allocation within the last couple of weeks but have not? Because if they have just created the order and are expecting GM to pick it up for production, that is not how it works for a BW.

Thanks for the reply. Honestly, it's not 100% clear to me. Here's what I know:
1. I paid a $1000 to enter my build into the dealer system. They told me that they would submit it soon after, but that it could be a few weeks until GM picks up the build.
2. A few weeks later, I spoke with my sales rep and one other person at the dealer to make some modifications to the build. They said mods would be fine up until Thursday of the following week, when they actually submit the build. They also told me that they would reach out to me to confirm all the aspects of the build before submitting it.
3. Today I was told that my build was submitted a few weeks ago along with the two others, and none of those three have been accepted. They don't know why but my sales rep is worried that maybe production is closing down (apparently CT4s are already done).

You mention that the dealer said they expected the order to be picked up on Thursday. I believe Thursdays are when GM hands out allocations. So it sounds like they have been expecting BW allocations but have not been getting them. Allocations are based on prior sales volume by the dealership. So if they are a large dealership, they may be used to getting a weekly allocation. If they are small dealership then they probably don’t really know when their next allocation will happen.

Ask for your GM Order Number and current event code after this Thursday.

Yes they say allocations come in on Thursdays (or Wednesdays). They were expecting regular allocations as they have pretty high volume (north San Diego), and I was initially told that allocations would not be a problem. I'm wondering if those allocations are drying up on a permanent basis, or whether there maybe a lull in production, or whether they're oversubscribed. When my rep told me that he's afraid they may be drying up due to closure of production I started to worry.

I'll check tomorrow. I expect it'll end up being 1100.

1100 means its just in the system. Until they get an allocation and your order gets matched, then itll go to 2000 status. Thats how you know you have a build. Usually 30-45 days at that point is when the car gets built.

My honest opinion, place orders at other dealership. Preferably ones with nobody else on their waitlist and doesnt take a deposit. How your dealership is explaining how these orders flow makes me feel like they havent had alot of experience how these BW orders work. Then having 2 others on the wait list with you and feel like they dont have a plan is making me nervous for you. Shotgun blast the orders and see which one gets picked up isnt how this should be done.

High volume in general (SUVs) does not earn the dealership BW allocations. In the San Diego area, to my knowledge, the highest volume of BWs is at Marvin K Brown.

I hope your $1000 is refundable.

1100 doesn't mean anything without an allocation. It's just "in the system". My order sat at 1100 of months due to constraints and my bullheadedness.

No idea if new allocations are still being given out, but my car was just produced this week and is now pending shipping. I had put the order in some time in June.

Mine was just built week of 7/20. Order placed 5/12. Waiting on transport now!

That’s what Claude said too. When I went there they told me no more custom builds were available so I went up to Premier in Carlsbad. The sales rep told me they routinely got BW build allocations so I went with them. I also went up to Beverly Hills but it seemed like they were wanted ADM and I won’t pay that.

How long did it take to get accepted and go into build status? And how long did it take to build?
Was accepted after about 3 days later (bought from a high volume V dealer). Was built about 6 weeks later. They are built in one day.

Hopefully he isn't referring to the bespoke "custom" builds. There is a stark difference of those and a regular ordered BW.

No not the Cadillac custom program - that’s more than I need. I just want an allocation to specify the particular range of features generally offered for MY26. Otherwise all the dealers seem to have are black cars with no options or fully loaded examples clocking in at $150K.

It actually takes about a week for each car to go down the line from start to finish. Normally you get a "TPW" or "Target Production Week" - most cars drive off the line on Thursday's.
