I'd like to have a fire extinguisher mounted in my V3 as I've seen some mounted under the front passenger seat of other model cars. However, I don't know what is working for our V3 owners...so if you have some recommendations to pass along, please do.

Thank you.

This seems like a good choice:

I've seen the Elements in real action. Take a pass. Other chemical fire extinguishers actually do more damage to the car when used. Halon was great until it was banned. If my car ever caught fire, I would throw some paper on it before the firetrucks got there and let it be totalled.

Ah very cool! I had seen a video on this a while back...and so glad you brought this up. It looks like a great recommendation. Thank you!

What was wrong about the Elements? It is marketed as a safe way to extinguish automotive fires without also contributing to the destruction of the car (wiring, etc).

There are some videos out there showing that Element is only good on a very small fire that just started. Not electrical. If you have a full on engine bay fire, there isn't enough material in the thing to put it out. The videos I saw, years ago, when I was interested in getting it, showed it ran out of retardant (can I say that?) before the fire would be out . You may need more than one. I have had cars in my family shop that had been sprayed with a chemical extinguisher and they were totalled BECAUSE of the extinguisher chem used. BUT , the fire was out !

The answer is get a Purple K fire extinguisher.

I researched this when choosing a fire extinguisher for my car. Most helpful was a firefighter who posted what he recommended.

Purple K is preferred for a car because it doesn’t leave any residue. Your typical ABC fire extinguisher that is sold everywhere will put out a car fire, but it will make a mess of everything with residue that will be a chore to cleanup. Worse, the residue is corrosive!

That reminds me of the time Mom was cooking some baked mac n cheese but accidentally hit the "clean" button and baked it into a fire. Door locked up and wouldn't open so I had to hammer the glass and spray with the ABC junk. The next few years we were still wiping dust from it.
