CT4-V CT4VBW vs. Porsche 911 (991 Carrera S) - Am I making a mistake?

Cadillac CT4-V model
I’ve had both a 4BW and a 991.1 and a 991.2, with 997.1 and 997.2. All manual 4S. Great cars but if something needs fixed or worked on, your gonna pay. All of these 3.8 motors can bore score. The 3.0 turbo motor does not so far. but the maintenance schedule is pricey, every four years plugs, filters, fluid flush and more. It’s expensive as the labor to get all all that stuff, makes costs go up.

If it’s a second car, great. If not then carrying people and things gets hard.

They will hold their value, long as you have all receipts and can prove it’s up to date on maintenance.

I traded a 991.1 C4S for my BW, as I wanted 4 years of warranty and needed space to take things to my house in Mn, a 1200 mile drive.

So get one, have fun, keep it up on maintenance and when you get rid of it, you won’t lose money.
DCV, how would you compare the road noise between the 991.1 and 4BW? I admit I am still having thoughts about the 991.1 C2S but I am concerned about tire noise on the freeway. My impression from short drives in both is that the Blackwing is a lot quieter, but, is that true? (I would likely but Conti DWS06 all seasons on the Porsche to help close the gap).

The BW is quieter. Like I said it’s pricey to keep a 911 on service schedule, unless you do all the work yourself and good at it. I suggest you buy a warranty if possible if you get it. Fidelity might offer one if the miles are not too high. Ask to see the service records to make sure it’s up to date. If it’s PDK I’d skip it, cause if that goes out it’s a 30k bill. Some repair is possible on it, but not much and not many people do it. Might want to get the cylinders bore scoped on camera too.

2016 991.1 GTS / 2024 CT5 - Love them both equally.

It's a Backyard Buddy - 500000 B-4P7CL-BB from Advantage Lifts (763) 300-5730

It works great and I would do it again.

I posted this in another thread. Mind you I had a 5 not a 4 so perhaps the driving dynamics might be a little different.

As another side note. The 911's power is definitely more usable on normal roads as well.

Not trying to take anything away from the 911. It's a fantastic car.
I've taken this thing to the mountains quite a few times and the control and capability of the car is insane.
I never slow down for entry/exit ramp turns. I actually accelerate in to them because the grip levels are impossible to understand.
The ownership/dealership experience is on a completely different level as well. They actually treat you well. They don't just collect your car with attitude like your being an inconvenience to them, making them actually do work. Then send you away to figure out how to get home.
If I had to fault the 911 on something it would be the ride compliance. Yes I'm not confused, it's a 911, it's a sports car at it's core, so the ride will be on the firm side of things. It's not terrible but it's not great depending on the road surface. Also, it's loud as hell inside, not from engine noise but road noise.

The BW is just different. I miss the ride quality, the 6MT (yes it is actually better than the 7MT in the 911, like loads better), the quietness of the cabin (after being in the 911, the BW is Lexus level of quiet), the power and the sound of the V8 and the drama you can manufacture from the car if you REALLY wanted to get crazy with it. Yeah for sure the BW doesn't have the level of grip/cornering capability of the nibble 911, but it was also no slouch considering it's weight. I drove the BW in to corners harder than I should have multiple times and it dealt with them. Just not as hard as I can with the 911.

Either way. Both cars are fantastic and both fill different roles.

BUT, if I wanted to be honest with myself. Without question I'd have the BW back in my driveway.
