Hi All,

I have searched and found many threads about downpipe installion on the CT4-V BW, but all of them seem to miss on the details on how to disconnect the O2 electrical connector.

I post this question at the risk of embarassing myself but also maybe it will help someone else.

Since both sensors are in tough to reach and blind spots, how do the connectors go together?

There seems to be a lock tab that clicks open but then where would you push on to get the connectors loose?

If there is a diagram or pictures of both the male and female side that would be great. I have found pics of the O2 Sensor that shows the sensor side but not the hardess side. Here is the pic from Rockauto when i look up the replacement:

The car is a 2022.

Any info helps.

Thanks,
Mike

Maybe the Tapout Tuning instructions for downpipe installation may help: https://www.tapouttuning.com/wp-con...ckwing-Downpipe-Installation-Instructions.pdf
Thanks for chiming in on the thread.

The tapout instructions were what I was following as I am comtemplating getting those downpipes and seeing if this is a job I can handle myself (with normal tools and in my garage/driveway).

The instruction are not incorrect, but they are just not as detailed for someone who does not do these often or at all. Here is what it says:

"Removal starts by opening the hood and disconnecting bank 1 and bank 2 front oxygen sensors. Follow the blue wire to the connector and remove the CPA (connector position assurance), it is a gray tab that slides in perpendicular to the connector body. Then disconnect the connector."

Not incorrect and I am sure for those that have done it they would say that is all there is to it. (I have been guilty of that too).

But I followed the O2 Sensor wire up towards the head as best I could as my hand barely fit in there where I can grab and move things. And it seems the connector itself is actually located on the Rear of the head, in between the firewall and not the one on the side that they show in the pic.

Anyway, Getting the O2 sensors disconnected and off is just one challenge. Looking at the rest of it (accessing the downpipe to turbo bolts, maneuvering the new pipes into place etc.....I have decied that my CT4-V BW sounds great already and I will not be getting these DPs.

Unless of course someone chimes in with some details that gets me to move forward on them.

Mike

I went through the same exercise on my ATS-V. When it was time to install the downpipes I bought a while back, I reluctantly went to snoop around. After spending half an hour trying and failing to figure out how to disconnect and pull out the O2 connectors, I thought it was not a project I cared to get into. I happily paid $300 (they asked for $150, which was silly) for a shop I am close with to install. I was very glad I did based on their feedback after it was done.

Maybe this will help. This picture is the same connector. First (1) slide the red lock back, then second (2) depress the tab to remove. Hope that helps!!
