CT4-V Disappointed after lengthy Test drive

Cadillac CT4-V model
I recently crossed the 1,500 mile mark on my car so I was able to open her up. I think it pulls similar to my 2017 C7, which was also a manual transmission car. I didn't get the surge out of either car that I expected for having over 450 horsepower and while one had the V8, they both pulled in a very similar smooth fashion. I think the cars are faster than what I perceive them to be because they put the power down so well, but because of that I'm certainly left wanting more.

I haven't been in a LT4 powered car to see how they feel when the pedal is down, but I'm thinking if the CT4 had similar power levels to the CT5, I would be saying how fast the car feels. Honestly if the chassis can handle the extra 200 horses, I rather have the CT5 power levels in the smaller car.

A Tapout Purple Belt package can match the 5VBW output for a lot less than the cost difference of the two cars.

Unless they’re adding 2 cylinders I’m not interested. -Can never make a V6 sound like a V8. I don’t care about fast, it’s all about the total driving experience.

GM fit the LT1 in an ATS-V during testing. That's not the issue.
Seems I remember Mirza Grebovic saying it would not, but I could be wrong. Also the ATS was Alpha 1. CT4 is Alpha 2. Could be a space difference.

Which was more fun? I’m really tempted to get a regular daily and some type of V8 sports car to go with it. I absolutely love my BW, but miss the V8 and the size of the CT4 can be annoying at times. Interestingly I sat in a CT5 today and it has the same raised floor hump in front of the drivers seat, although not as bad.

That is a hard question to answer. From the driver seat they are both so much fun to drive. For me personally, I miss having that 7th gear for highway driving, but highway driving isn't exactly fun. Both cars have such amazing handling and you can take pretty much any turn at double the speed limit or more. My C7 Z51 had so much grip, I couldn't even imagine needing something like the Grand Sport or Z06 offer, but I'm sure on a track that is where the extra grip those provide would come into play. I think the biggest difference I can feel is how much better this Mag ride 4.0 is vs the Mag ride in my Z51. I didn't notice the differences between modes as much with the Z51 as I do with the Blackwing. I feel the tour mode in the Blackwing is much better at providing that more cushy ride. My biggest reason for getting rid of the Corvette was that I have two small kids and the Corvette was just impractical, so I needed something fun, but that still offered a manual. If a backseat isn't a concern, both are just fantastic offerings from GM. My 2 cents
