CT4-V CT4BW JB4 Review on 91 Oct with Datalog

Cadillac CT4-V model
I installed mine about a week ago. Ran map 0 for a bit and kept an eye on it, then moved to map 1. Sent log to Terry to review yesterday, and it seemed ok, though it was only a part throttle log. I'll log a full throttle run when I get an opportunity (don't get to often) and see what that looks like. Until I can gap the plugs tighter, I will not move to map 2 and I am not looking forward to pulling the plugs. I have done that on the ATS-V and really don't like the process. Some potential for breaking fittings and creating another project.
What I don't like is that I can't monitor with my Torque app as only one device can run off the OBD port. I bought a splitter, but was getting wacked out readings and apparently you don't want to do split the port when running JB4. JB4's own monitoring does include fuel trims, but no missfires and knock that I like to keep an eye on. Fuel trims showing up in the JB4 gauges are not reflective of actual fuel trims by the way, as a function of its operation. Its idling at 23 to 35 (these are not actual trims) on JB4, but when disconnecting the jb4 and connecting my Torque app, fuel trims are 5 to 8 (actual trims). Something to keep in mind.
As far as performance....no comment on it yet. Haven't really pushed it at all yet. Feels completely stock in normal driving. I am not expecting a major difference on map 1.

Bumping this a few months later to hear any updates.

I have been monitoring the JB4 forums here and there. It may be because they're meant to semi-function as a customer support outlet, but many users have complained about correct fueling trims and chasing down misfires. I personally prefer a full tune but the instant gratification and lower investment of the JB4 and BCM - is very hard to ignore. I also track my car in hot/humid weather here in South Florida and would probably reset the map to 0 for those days but I'm still curious about firsthand feedback on the day-to-day (I would stick with 93 octane rather than mess around with e85 blends) reliability on a non-babied vehicle.

I've been running Map3- the 93-E30 map all summer with no issues. That's with 4 gallons of E85 in a full tank. I've reviewed TONS and TONS of logs and I don't have misfires. I can you datalogs of the car advancing timing on logs with that map. So far I'm very happy with the JB4/BCM combo.

Would a full tune be better - yes, but I also like th cost savings of this combo.

I've tracked my Blackwing and everytime I've left it on Map 0. I don't trust the piggyback to make 100% accurate timing and boost adjustments with 15-20m of hot lapping the car. Plus an extra 30-40hp doesn't make the biggest difference in Laptimes in the long run.
