Cadillac F1 entry

I've bascially been addicted to F1 Drive to Survive so suddenly I care about F1.

I wonder who the drivers are going to be.

I really like the color theme and Cadillac style logo-ing they did on this.
I hope lego makes this car next year.

Unfortunately, that phenomenon has priced people like me out of the market for tickets. I'm lucky enough to live in Austin, so prior to the recent frenzy, I had gone every year.

Now my $300 seats are $1,500. And its sold out, so the entire 10 square mile property is shoulder-to-shoulder crowded, and it takes half a day to leave after the race. So I no longer attend.

Utter and complete insanity.

But if they still sounded like they did in 2012 with the NA V8, I'd still be tempted. :)

2026 is supposed to improve the sound, but I believe they'll still be running turbo V6s. Its such a tiny fraction of what they used to be its a tragedy.

I hear you on the sound of F1 today. But the racing is quite exciting in recent years.

F1 is doubtlessly motorsports at the highest level.

I just think an IMSA race at 1/10 the price would be just as much fun to watch.

COTA totally sabotages their minor events. GT World Challenge is racing here next month, and they're shutting down all the good seating and limiting access to only the crappiest stands on the property.

They do the same idiotic thing for everything except F1, NASCAR and MotoGP. They destroy the good, cheap races to save the price of a couple of security guards. Its so sad............

IMSA realized this and stopped coming here after 2 or 3 races. :(

I attended f1 at cota for seven years straight. Motogp for five. Dozens of other minor things like the lonestar le mans and gt world challenge.

Every year it got harder and harder. Costs going up, seating getting worse, parking terrible. I’ve completely stopped going. I was spending thousands of dollars a year there for me and my family only to drop it to zero. Because of work I get invited into the paddock for Mercedes and McLaren, and I still don’t go even if the tickets are free because it’s just such a hassle.

Where have you found good Blackwing/Cadillac Racing merch? Link??

My outside guess is that Cadillac will be borrowing Zhou Guanyu from reserve duties at Ferrari and pairing him with Checo. At the end of the day there has to be some marketing return for the operation, and this pairing covers GM's two biggest markets for Cadillac.

If Cadillac signs Valtteri Bottas, I will literally die of joy. They just need to release their line up soon because all this rumor BS is starting to get annoying
Yes. While he was at Mercedes they kept him pretty clean cut. Now, though he is Finnish, he looks like a red neck with his porn star stasche and mullet. Put him in a wife beater and give him a PBR and he is the perfect driver for an American team.

Zhou might be a good idea if GM wants to maintain Cadillac sales in China, the only place in the world that buys Cadillac sedans in any volume beyond a rounding error.

Hang on a sec (I tried to read the R&T article) is Michael Andretti involed with the new F1 team? I hope he is! Not that I like him per se, don't know the man/his racing style, but historically speaking it would be so awesome...especially if Cadillac (with Andretti?) wins the builders cup. Actually, I do like Michael. I gotta find a tv $package$ and watch the season.

From what I read he is involved with the team and is looking forward to being in the Cadillac paddock, The season is on ESPN, just at really early hours due to mostly being overseas.

He has mostly stepped aside. Originally the entry was Andretti Global, then Andretti Cadillac and now just Cadillac and it's owned/operated by TWG Global who has long partnered with but recently took over control of Andretti Global including their IndyCar team. It seems Michael really rubbed a lot of people in the F1 paddock the wrong way (namely the head honcho of F1/Liberty Media, Stefano Domenicalli) and they weren't going to grant entry with him involved. Once he stepped aside (from the F1 effort and IndyCar) F1 magically approved the entry.

Cool. That sounds great if he does. If I get a tv package I want the extras; paddock cam, driver POV - whatever deluxe package. May as well for the first year anyway.

Thanks for that. I hope Michael writes a book someday about his years as an owner, including this F1 thing. Was hoping to see some F1 wins to team Andretti Cadillac. Maybe someday.
