Is it me or the car that when i go to upshift 5-6 it wants to go to 4 unless i am very conscious of the shift. Admittedly I haven't had a stick in a long time but it seems odd it wants to go down a gear on its own instead of up. Thoughts? thanks

You simply need to apply a little pressure to the right as you shift from 5 to 6. The shifter is intentionally spring loaded to automatically center in the 3 to 4 shift pattern. You may not know it but you are pressing to the left a bit when shifting from 1 to 2.

I've noticed it as well, but rarely use 6th gear. I made 5-4 shift instead of 5-6 a couple of weeks ago. The RPMs shot up. I've always owned/driven a manual car as well, but my last car could have had the spring worn in.

i appreciate the feedback.....
Agreed, 5th -to -6th shift is awkward. I put right pinky up, thumb down (the opposite of normal 1-5 shifts) and push down to passenger’s seat bottom.
Problem remains it’s hard to practice without lugging the engine or exceeding east coast speed limits. . .
Loving this girl’s Tremec and connecting clutch action smooveness!

This is the way. My arms move awkwardly if my hand is the other way.

Yes 6th gear is easy 80 mph and in so cal that's normal when traffic is light.........
I too love the engine/clutch/trans combo. A bit glitchier than I expected but still very nice. Can't wait until i get to do some NLSs

I hit the gate between 4 and 6 if I’m not intentionally pushing to the right a little, or the pinky up thumb down shift.

I am noticing the same thing in my 4BW.

The left-right force required to get to 1-2, 5-6, and R is noticeably greater than the TR6060 in my '23 Camaro. Have missed 6th and got 4th (noticed and corrected before letting clutch out) a couple times as well as got 5th instead of R a few times due to this.

And the 4BW feels noticeably less smooth shifting, and the "edges" of the gear gates just feel more "square" vs "chamfered" than the Camaro. I was really expecting them to be very similar/identical in feel... love the feel of the Camaro trans, gonna need to get used to this Blackwing.

Clutch, on the other hand, has much better feel in the Blackwing than Camaro.
