One new tire, one used

I need to repalace one of my rear tires on my 2026 5 BW due to nail near sidewall. Car has 5,700 miles with original tires. Street only. Do you guys see any issues with the ELSD with one new tire and one that has 5,700 miles on it? Thanks.

Probably just do some donuts in the direction of the new tire to even it out, right?

I'd say measure the tread on the old tire and see how much it's worn compared to the new trend depth. A good tire shop should be able to save the new one down. Will its mess up the ECU? Won't know till you try. The speed sensors for each wheel will register different values and that might freak it out.

Dont think it would be that serious. Most of us will replace rear tires before we replace the fronts, some would even get different brand tires than OEM, or even taller tires and the traction control hasnt fritzed yet (unless youre going from 26" to 27"+ tires).

FWIW, when I hit a large rock when I was out in CA a while ago, I blew out both left side tires (don't ask). I was flat bedded to a very large, multi franchise GM dealer. They have two tires guys. That's all they do. Knowing the situation, the first thing the guy asked was how many miles. I told him about 7000. He said just do the left sides. He said if I was close to 10K, he'd strongly recommend doing all four.

So, I'd say you're ok doing one at 5700 miles.
