Stock or aftermarket 4BW pads and rotors?

I'm due for pads and rotors for my 4BW but the dealer says that oem's are backordered til July, and with tax are almost 5k! Does anyone have experience/recommend aftermarket options, or should I just pay to order them from the dealer and wait until July?

I am curious how many miles you got out of your OEM rotors -- any track time on them?

Ive definitely stretched further than I should, haven't noticed braking problems but visually the pads are quite thin. I dont drive as hard as I used to, but I've done a session of autocross. Currently at 50k miles.

Also wondering if I should just source the parts myself and bring it to an independent shop? Seems even the OEM parts are available for under MSRP online. 3380 for everything instead of 4845.

I'll second talking with Ken at KNS. Nothing magic about OEM. Rotors may be fine too, worth checking thickness. It's possible the dealer just said new rotors so they could sell new rotors.

If you are talking about front and rear everything that pricing sounds about right. But really high if just the front.

If you aren't tracking the car, there's probably a pad that would be better for Street and some autocross with lower dust and wear than OEM.

I know there are pad options on KNS and even Amazon, but for rotors, I think there are only GM stock rotors or Girodisc available. If there's any others available I can't find them. Wonder if Camaro or Vette rotors are the same size/pattern as the 4BW? Anybody know?

PS- Rockauto has OEM rotors for sale...✌️

$1,511 for all four rotors, $650 for the pads from rockauto (+ shipping + tax). At least they're in stock.

That's a huge price difference... it shouldn't be an issue for me to order these and get an independent shop to do the brake job, right?

Some shops won't do the work if the parts aren't purchased thru them.

Very true. My only thought is maybe OP could get them installed somewhere, under the guise of they are out of stock everywhere and that most shops aren't going to be able to source these locally.
Just my 2 cents...

How much a pain in the ass would doing the work myself be? I hear bleeding brakes is a bitch, but it sounds like I stand to save thousands of dollars and would be able to replace the brakes now vs months down the line.

If you've never worked on anything it may take you a bit to figure everything out, but it's not super difficult. You shouldn't have to bleed the brakes if you are doing pads and rotors. Only if you're replacing calipers or changing brake fluid. There's a couple vids on YouTube that go over brembo installs that are pretty helpful. Remove the pins and clips and the pads should come out. Remove the calipers and hang them as to not damage the lines. Then you can get at the rotors to swap them.

I've been happy with the carbon ceramic Powerstop pads. Z26-1405 (front) & 1053 (rear), $147 for both sets on Amazon. Price is up about $20 now (about 5 weeks later). Virtually no dust, work fine, and silent. If you're just changing the pads, it's the easiest brake job I've ever done since you don't remove the calipers.
