Every time I get in my Sebring edition I think of this thread now

I looked at these as I have one on another car, but when you're only saving 1-2 pounds, it's not enough of a weight savings to move away from OEM unless you need the power handling.

The proper procedure is to hook up a power source to a terminal that is common with the terminal in the battery during replacement? This seems like a bad idea, that's actually what is in the service manual?

Yep, agree with ngoni, that would have been everywhere, including all over the back of the car as whatever got dropped while driving would have gotten caught by the airflow under the car and coated everything

That's where it's likely going then. You'll want them to verify health of the catalytic converters too; just because they work now doesn't mean that catching this much oil, burnt or otherwise, isn't taking life out of them
