Dumping my Plaid, which for 1000hp drove like a washing machine. Super happy with the car as 3x more features. That said, the motor was clearly built for the Blackwing. I love it but it definitely not form fitting.
The oil level sensor is not the problem IMHO. The oil read low because it was low. This motor needs 0W-40 dexos2 and my strong suspicion is the dealer is using the same synthetic they use for other Cadillacs. Unfortunately if you stipulate the proper oil you will never know whether the sensor...
Does anyone bother to read the threads first lol.
I started a thread on this months ago. Of course I do not know the specifics, but I would bet money your dealer used the wrong oil. Think about who stocks the oil spec’d for our car? Not even the auto parts stores.
Have your oil changed again...
I will be getting my car serviced soon but the wrong oil theory makes a lot of sense. I’m mechanically inclined and I’ve never seen a situation like this where there is no leak, no heat, no smoke.
Consequently, I have been topping the car off with the correct factory spec oil, which I purchase...
Lots of sports cars burn oil, especially forced induction that run on 0w. Hence why the powertrain warranty on most high end cars specifies what defines an excessive amount.
The added oil is over thousands of miles and there is no indication anything is wrong between the engine temp, oil temp...
I’ve added three quarts since my last change. Zero leaks. Zero smoke. I don’t get it other than it’s a bespoke motor and stuff happens. Am I just an unlucky unicorn?
It did warn me while the car was safe to drive. Pressure remained well and adequate. And yes there is a dipstick.
Once I topped it off the light went away. There are no visible leaks either. I’ll ask the dealer about it and report back.
My 5vBW is sitting around 4300 miles, changed oil after break-in once. I’m right around due for another one but she was down a quart of oil. Topped her off and not a major cause for concern but wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
The German quality edge is reputation driven over many decades more so than fact. I’m not saying it’s not a fact, but it would take many years of head to head wins on quality before the reputation would change.
On the flip side, Tesla (an American company) established a reputation in electric...
Besf car I’ve ever owned. And I’ve owned V1, STS-V, V2, V3, C7 Z06, and Jeep Trackhawk before the Blackwing. I think it’s an amazing DD. Everything just works. No creaks or cheap bits. The engine and manual are the best combo I have owned, power on demand in any gear where the previous cars...
After a terrible past experience, I never buy out of state vehicles living in CA. Some great intel in this thread, including RPO codes and how 50 state legal is not sufficient. My only other piece of ancillary advice: Never listen to an out of state dealer. They will tell you they sell cars to...
