The backside of the mirror does not have an electrical connection like years past. I'd like to mount my Escort under the mirror with a Blendmount and use something like an Invisacord to power it. Where do you tap in to hardwire the radar detector?

It can still be done!!

The connection is now behind the cover piece running down from the headliner to the mirror. I don't remember the connections, but I'll try and look it up again and repost for you.

Here you go. This is from my 2011 CTS-V Coupe, so I don't know if yours is the same.

There is a red wire between a green and green/white wires. This is +12
volts switched by ignition on.

The black/white wire is a ground. Zip tie the cord to the wiring harness
for strain relief and tuck it under the cover.

Perfect, thank you! Was an 8 inch Invisacord long enough or should I get the 12"?

The invisacord is actually made from flat phone cable, which I had, so I made my own. Mine is longer because I am not using the blenmount, I just use the suction cup mount to the winshield.

I also purchased a Blend Mount for my '13 V-Coupe. I also got the Mirror Tap...which I liked because it is a fusible link...I think it is a .2 Amp fuse in there. Even with the smallest spade terminals they have on that Mirror Tap, I could not manage to get them jammed into the American Yazaki Kaizen 064 Series connector where the +12 volt & ground wires are (pink & black/white, respectively) because the openings are too small. As stated in one of the other responses, the connector is under a plastic cover once you remove the mirror and unplug the connector.

It is frustrating because I have tried to find another way to hardwire it directly into that connector without any luck. And no, I don't want to do what a lot of other people do, which is just run a wire under the headliner and windshield trim pieces down under the dash to find a suitable place to wire it. I want to use that fusible link; it is small diameter wire and cleaner. I tried contacting the manufacturer of the connector to see if I could buy a couple to experiment with, but it is a Japanese company and maybe they didn't understand my email or something. Just basically haven't had time in the last several weeks to get back to this.

Go to your local Radio Shack and get the male crimp connectors for a RS232 connector (they are small and round). Cut the spade connectors off and crimp these connectors on your cord. These will slide in the tiny area you have on the 'Yazaki' connector'.

Hung mine from the Lh side of the LH visor

I ran the cable under the edge of the door seal to the underside of the dash and connected the power plug to the female end of a power plug extension cord. To hard wire the power, I cut off the other end of the extension cord, and connected it to the red 12 volt wire that supplies the console power outlets. The red wire is in the connector seen when you pull the carpet edge from the passenger side of the console cover.

Thanks, Cubby! I'l try that...
