Next Gen ICE CT5 Officially Confirmed!!!!

It's still unclear whether the Camaro will have a 2 door variant as well. They may package the SC engine only with a coupe Camaro while keeping the same engine with a next gen CT5 BW
Wonder if the Caddy gets the Corvette's electric front motors thrown in and that's the "luxury"/more performance differentiator between them.

Electric motors up front sounds nice but i doubt theres room. Corvette doesnt have an engine up front. Anything similar to this generation, v8 rwd, would get to front heavy if a motor or motors were added. If anything maybe the transmission will incorporate electric assist/"boost".

I doubt the Alpha platform can support it.

It's more likely the car gets AWD but I'm not sure if they can fit the transfer case with a v8 otherwise they probably would have done it already.

My Audi B6 S4 was a V8 AWD with manual six speed, so it can be done. Nobody makes that right now. It was a monster, but the cam chain guides and tensioner were weak points and you needed an engine pull for the fix.

GM being GM... Camaro goes 4 door and the BW is a..... 2 door ala XLR 👀

I think electric assist to the front is completely plausible given that they are revising the Alpha platform for all these new variants. The current emission standards "hookers and blow" party isn't going to stay around for long, so not engineering for hybrid versions would be foolish.

I want a fast car, but don't have interest in having the fastest car because there will always be something quicker. But something that is engaging and fun to drive will win me over. I find EVs more fun to drive than autos with 1footed driving and regen braking, but nothing will compare to a manual for me and I will continue to limit my choices to what is available in a manual transmission.

Agree @brewski. That's pretty much my take on EV vs ICE debate. If I didn't want a manual transmission today, I would probably just get a Taycan.

The Corvette electric motors are for performance, not economy. They use the electric motor for improving launch performance and to avoid loss of momentum while the transmission is shifting.

No lithium batteries in my house/garage, I worry enough about the ones in my shed. Everyone else is free to decide for themselves.

What about your phone?

You probably have a lithium battery 5 inches from your dick for most of the day. Ready at any time to turn you from weather man into weather woman.

You live with what you have to. Big difference in size between a phone battery and EV battery. Heck, the 5ah for my drill is enough to burn a shed down. You do what you can. Never charge when you're not around and periodically give the battery a hand check for warmth. All I know is I want nothing to do with trying to get insurance to cover ripping out the interior of my house after a runaway EV battery filled it with hazmat.

Yet most people don't give a second thought to parking a car full of gasoline and a constant electrical load in same garage.
