I saw a few threads on questions on installing the emblems but not much DIY info. This was quicker than I thought it would take, but wish I could have seen pictures to help me know where snaps are etc. Took some pics and hope this helps people in the future.
Rear emblem I believe requires removing the trunk liner. I didn’t try to do it without that step.
Here is a picture of the trunk liner to know where the snaps are. There are 8 snaps on the liner and 1 on each plastic hinge bar covers.
The trick to removing the liner without breaking the snaps off the liner is to reach your hand (or pry tool) in there and push/pull on the plastic shoulder and not on the fabric piece.
1st step is to remove plastic cover on the latch. I did this by slipping a trim tool under the liner pry the liner away and plastic cover snapped off without damaging the hooks.
2nd is to pull liner down and pull the plastic covers back on the hinge bars. I did not have to remove the hinge bar covers fully, just pulled them back.
I didn’t care to save the original emblem so I cut the snaps from inside and then pulled on the chrome emblem from the outside to break it away. The emblem separated where the sticky and color inner parts stayed on the trunk. I pulled that off with my fingers too and no sticky residual was left on the car.
Cleaned the surface before adhering the Savage Cadillac black emblem.
Tip: if you are using Savage Cadillac emblems is to remove the little inner cut outs on the adhesive liner before removing the main protective liner
Lined up the new emblem using the pins and holes then just pushed it down evenly which makes it automatically center.
When reinstalling the trunk liner just make sure all the snaps are lined up with the slots and plastic hinge covers are set to snap in. Also make sure the emergency pull lever and handle to close trunk pulled thru the liner before you start to snap the trunk liner back in.
