Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

Is this normal Cadillac Service?

The Cadillac/ Chevrolet dealership that I mainly use......just completed a new building just for the Cadillac side of the house. That is probably why they raised the hourly rate from last years $190 to the current $220 per hour. The customers need to pay for the new building.

Nope... time to find another dealer!

Service doesn't need to be done at a dealer, so there is that. But, sounds like the OP is looking at warranty type repairs so it does need to be a Cadillac dealer.

It definitely sounds like a poorly managed service center, but this is predictable now that dealers have a virtual lock on service. They don't need to be good, everyone comes back anyway. There is no loyalty by consumers on purchase side either, so its just an unfortunate situation with no incentive to be special.
I had a Chevy SS and wanted to take it to a local Buick/GMC dealership. I had excellent service from them particularly from the Service Mgr.

I talked to them about a minor issue with my Blackwing. The Service Manger was reluctant to take it on so I didn't push the issue. Don

Those hourly wages are insane, WAY above what the San Antonio Caddy dealership charges. You sure it's all about the new building? Don

The ridiculous $220 per hour labor rate is just pure greed. (Almost all the dealerships around here charge the same.) I will avoid the dealership for maintenance as much as possible.

Find another one, took mine in for an oil change, cel and oil consumption, gave me a loaner, diagnosed fixed and had my car back 4 days later.
@marcmac Please share more info on your vehicle's oil consumption and what has been done and information they have relayed to you.

Also, per thread topic, I have recently switched from:
- Cadillac dealer Service (Where I purchased the vehicle which was a bit too far, and the service ranged from questionable to satisfactory )
to
- local Chevy Dealer Service (much closer, said they would do warranty work on non-EV Cadillacs, but the service was slightly more questionable and slightly less satisfactory)
Then, I met someone at a C&C meet who recommended a Chevy dealer that is known for excellent service with performance GM vehicles. So I switched to
- quite far Chevy Dealer which I feel I'm in good hands with possible new engine coming. . . due to. . . .oil consumption.

I got a new engine installed in May, September I got a low oil message. Put a quart in and checked the dipstick. A month later got another message for low oil and did the same.

Took in for a cel for a small issues and told them the new engine was consuming oil. They changed the oil and told me to check the oil every fill-up. Told me to bring it back in when I hit 2000 miles so they can check the oil levels.

My original engine did not consume oil like the replacement engine. My first engine tanked due to a lifter failure bending a rod and tanking the engine.
