Oil Consumption on 4BW

I'm considering switching to Amsoil Synthetic 5W30 as their website recommends for my 2025 CT4V BW along with their recommended oil filter. I've been having oil consumption issues and there are no leaks or smoke that I can see (Working with dealer on this). I had my oil changed with OEM recommended AC Delco 5W30 and after about 1500 miles, I lost about half of what was put in by the dealer. I did check that it was full prior to leaving the dealer. I do drive pretty aggressive with RPMs over 3000 quite a bit. My last oil consumption issue happened over a 3000 mile road trip in the mountains driving aggressively.

I live in SE Louisiana, so I don't drive in extreme cold.

It is true. 3.5 quarts in 1500 mi is too much for sure. Some are saying it could be the oil. I'm currently working 7 days a week for a while so I've been monitoring weekly and have notified a new dealer that I'll be bringing it in when I can. My old dealer was no help at all.

Wow! That’s terrible. It could be anything. Bad turbo oil seal. Valve guide seals. Piston rings. That will take some serious diagnosis time to find the cause.

This kind of oil consumption is completely unacceptable and you should elevate this to GM if you are being blown off by the dealer.
Amsoil isnt going to fix it and there is no reason to spend that kind of money on oil when no less quality oils are available at half or third the price of amsoil.

Yes the new dealer I'm working with is going to give me a loaner.

The oil is going somewhere, and that's an incredible amount of oil to be losing without generating smoke. There's really only 3 options, it's burning it, which in that quantity you should see smoke, it's leaking, and you should see oil on the ground (or smoke if it's turbo seals), or it's pushing it into the coolant, and your overflow should be either over-full with oil contaminated coolant, or it should be dumping excess fluid onto the ground.

I agree with what others have said though, this amount of consumption isn't something you're going to resolve by changing your fluids or maintenance procedure.

It might be hard to see any smoke out of the tail pipes in the daytime when you hammer it. At night with car headlights behind you, when you get on it if there’s smoke it is easier see. Maybe have a friend behind you at night and they will notice any smoke fog.

I was wondering if there’s something wrong with the crankcase ventilation system, PCV.

Yes that could be a problem too. Maybe not right now but some time later. At least the emissions warranty is 8 years 80k miles
