V-Series Cadillac(s)?
2022 CT4 BW
I’ve had 7 GM sports cars all with brembos but for some reason this 4BW has the worst break squeal ever. Caddy replaced my rears just for them to be worse than the previous pair. I’ve tried everything at this point so don’t tell me to take it on the expressway and do hard stops and all that. I’ve done it all. Is there anything out there that can help this at all?!?!

It’s so bad it’s embarrassing to drive the car thru the neighborhood it’s so damn loud. GM used to apply copper paste which would help a bit but now they don’t do shit.

Anyone know of anything I haven’t tried yet?? None of my Camaros, SS sedans, Vettes or ATS V had these problems. I get all these compliments and questions about the car everywhere I go and then I pull away and it sounds like a fuckin school bus.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. It also only seems to be the rears which is what was replaced. The car only has 15k miles on it.

Damn, I'd take all corners off, lube them up, sand off the rotor deposits and go from there

If it continues, I'd suspect bad pads and look into replacing them with some aftermarket pads.

I've only gotten squeaking after driving the car hard and that first stop after they have cooled off will squeak a smidge. Otherwise they're silent.

My 4 didn't and my 5 doesn't make any noise. You don't hear people on here complaining about it, so I'd say something isn't right. I wonder if they are using the wrong pads/parts? Have you checled the E brake? I'd keep complaining to the dealer, who will probably say that's normal, which I would argue it is not.

You have to remember, copper is no longer allowed in brake pads. And it was right around 2020 or 2021 that it was deemed that manufacturers could not longer use copper. Copper quieted the squeal a bit. I worked for Akebono around that time and our engineers were having a tough time getting rid of squeal on OE pads. High performance carbon brakes are noisey. Ceramic aren't noisey or dirty. Akebonos slogan, "Clean Wheels and No Squeals".

^^^I'm sure it was a difficult engineering challenge, but the more important point is that a fair percentage of 4 and 5 BW's are represented here is and squeal is rarely reported.

Yea these squeal any time the weather is over 50 degrees. Just pulling out my driveway they squeal so loud the neighbors look at me like “wtf”…. Then pulling up to stop lights and all that. Pretty much always at low speeds too. Parking lots, driveways, traffic lights etc…. I’m due for an oil change so I’m gonna bring it up again. A brand new set of pads shouldn’t squeal worse than the ones they replaced lol. It drives me fuckin nuts.

Yea I knew that part but you would think they would have come up w some other fix by now.

2 SS sedans, 2 6th gen Camaros, a C7, a CT5V, an ATS V and only one of those cars had break squeal and when they swapped the pads it was gone.

This is terrible and the car only has 15k miles on it. They swapped the rears at 12k and I never would have imagined it would be worse.

New pads won’t help if the pad deposits on the rotor are uneven. Get new pads but also take the rotors off and sand them down some.

All good information in here. I'd check with the dealer first, it's under warranty and,the squeaking is clearly not normal. They should look into it and see what's going on. Could be something as simple as a stick caught in the caliper, I've had that issue before.

You clearly didn’t read the post. I had to fight the dealer just to get them replaced. Because “brembos squeal” as if I was born yesterday.

The dealers don’t do shit anymore. They find every reason not to warranty shit.

If a procedure is not in the book, they won’t want to do it as the service writer controls what they do. Even if the mechanic wants and knows how to do something that’s not in the book, the service writer won’t authorize it. So if you are unable to remove the rotors and sand them, find a race shop that knows all about it. I don’t have space to do this type of thing either. I woukd think that maybe it’s 500 dollars.

My original pads were silent, but so are the Powerstop carbon ceramic I replaced them with, with the bonus that they don't dust much at all especially compared to the original. That's why I got them. Z26-1405 for the front and 1053 for the back, $160 total on Amazon right now. Obviously won't help if there's a glaze on the rotors. You also lose the electronic wear sensor.
