No affiliation, saw this at Jim Ellis Cadillac today when I brought my car in for warranty work. GM headlights apparently don't last 10,000 miles. While waiting I saw a striking matte black wrap on a 2025 5BW, manual transmission, no exterior carbon or carbon seats, no sunroof, iron rotors, approx. 11,000 miles.

Typical dealerships these days. I've been looking at the market for a new manual fun/daily, and what I've noticed a LOT is that dealerships will buy cars from auction sites like cars and bids or bring a trailer and then list it 10 - 20k over what they paid. I've now gotten into the habit of checking the VIN on Google to see the vehicle's sale history.

I'm looking at Escalades and finding really, um, interesting dealer shenanigans. Most all have their dealer add on packages, but what I'm finding at many stores near me is that they show they are selling at list, then you start talking to them, and then they tell you about the "market adjustment". One store I visited, the sales guy tells me they are "asking" $40,000 over list. Told him flat out NO! Not me. He said it's negotiable.

As an aside....I have spoken to @speedygonzalez at Sewell. He's a very stand up guy, very honest. Throw him some business.

It’s been around way before Covid and it’s called stupidity pricing. They’re setting a hook for a buyer with more money than brains. I won’t do business with people that play that game now or ever.

I've seen this practice with a number of Gen V Vipers, only the mark-ups are usually more significant.

The V-series vehicles with V8's historically hold their value better than other V-series and pricing was compounded by buyer anxiety from the shift to EV's.

Now that the manufacturers are going back to ICE, it would be nice to see some sanity return to pricing instead of cutting production to increase profits
