CT5-V Blackwing Ordered
Hello all, I have had a rough week. After only 1500 miles, I have to sell the best car I’ve ever purchased.

I’ve injured my leg and will need surgery, so there’s a combination of upcoming medical expenses and not being able to drive a manual for most of the rest of this year, I just can’t justify keeping it.

Any thoughts on whether to post here, cars and bids, BaT, or just take it into a dealer/CarMax for an offer?

Pretty standard build - 6MT, deep space metallic on bronze wheels, jet black leather seats. MSRP was ~$108k.

As many places as you can would be what I would do. Here, Autotrader, Cars.com, see what Carmax and the like would offer.

Sorry to hear about the injury... BAT/Cars and Bidds is always a decent option, however, I feel as though sometimes money left on the table because people want to bid up to below retail (get a "deal") and then sellers pay the fee. Are you going to replace it with something else? If so, you can tell always try to trade it in, pocket the tax benefit on the trade and sometimes get more value depending on what you get. What I did when I wanted to trade my AT4 for my Blackwing a few months ago, I got a carmax trade offer, then got a dealership to beat it by $1-2K, then took that offer to another dealership asked them to beat it... Then did that again, then once more at the caddy dealership that had my BW I wanted and ended up $6K over the carmax offer and nearly at third party value in the end..

It's not the best season weather wise to sell a fast/fun car.. Great time to buy, but half the country is in icy cold weather. If you can wait 1-2 months, it might yield you a higher trade or private sales price.

In the end, if you took great care of it, you should take your time and find a private buyer and sell directly. You can get the most that way with this expensive, enthusiast level car.. I would post it on forums and such and see if you can find a real buyer that doesn't want to buy from a dealership without knowing how the car was treated, who owned it, etc. for a $100K CT5 BW, I would prefer to buy knowing the previous owner and not dealing with a dealership.

As a seller in the used market, you'll attract an interesting collection of characters, most of which are flippers and low ballers looking for that deal. Finding a true enthusiast willing to pay a fair price is hard to find. Cars and Bids and BaT are good for rare colors with all the carbons, but low spec versions tend to under perform on average. It's a matter of how fast you want to sell and how important those last thousands of dollars are. I think the discontinuation of the car will strongly favor sellers this spring.
