TN/NC/VA Cruise and Gamble

Need to put some miles on my car to get through the break-in period before an HPDE coming up, so looking to make the most of the incredible roads we have here in the Appalachians. If anyone would be interested in joining me for the cruise, consider this an open invite.

Plan is to start in Tellico Plains on July 13th and take the Cherohala Skyway to Robinsdale, hit the Moonshiner 128 loop, then crossover to Cherokee to gamble and spend the night at Harrahs.

On the 14th we’d head out and take the Blue Ridge Parkway into Virginia then at some point jump off, crossover to Tazewell to hit the Back of the Dragon before heading back towards Bristol to spend the night at the new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

On July 15th we’d head out to finish it off with the Tail of the Dragon as part of the Dragon Rally XVIII which will be an all day event.

Mapped it out a bit and figure a 5pm Thursday start in Tellico, 8am Friday start in Cherokee, and a 6am Saturday start in Bristol to be at 129 Hub in time for the 9am check-in / 10am drivers meeting for the Dragon Rally XXVIII. This hits Cherohala, Moonshiner, Blue Ridge, Back of the Dragon, Foothills Parkway, and Tail of the Dragon and will end up close to 1,000 miles total over 3 states

Based on your maps, I'd join in Tellico Plains and branch off after Bristol (head down towards Asheville). Zero interest in joining Dragon Rally XXVIII.

Looks like I'll be unable to attend. I got offered some concert tickets Thursday night and I have to fly to EU on Sunday. Not a good weekend to take a few days up in the mountains. My 5BW will get up there, though.

I've found the sweet spot to be during the week, early to mid September. That's after kids are in school but before the good roads are clogged with rolling chicanes filled with people looking at leaves.
