Suggestions on New Tires

The PP does not have a 10.5" front wheel as far as I have seen. My PP will be arriving this week at the dealer and I can confirm. The wheels are apparently the same between PP and non-PP.

I assumed that it had the same wheel width on front, but I mentioned it when on the phone call to Apex and he said that PP had a 10.5 front. He didn’t say where he got that info.

I can confirm they are the same as non PP cars, 19x10” et20 fronts, 19x11” et49 rears. I’ve got PS4S 285 front and 315 rear right now on my PP car and everything’s fine. Obviously it’s your decision, but I always keep all the stock parts for my cars, at minimum the wheels if you separate the tires. If your Cup2 r’s are in decent shape you could sell them for sure.

I wonder where Apex got that from, I’ve been searching and all I see is 10”.

I’m the same way about saving parts. My grandmother bought a ‘56 t-bird new and it was handed down to me. When I was building it, I saved ball joints, shocks, original fasteners, etc. just in case someone down the road needs them. When I built my wife’s 32 it was the same thing. I’d probably have room for another car if I got rid of saved parts.

Can anyone confirm that the PS4S is marked “TPC” on the sidewall? I was under the impression that they were based on another thread with the first pic from a 4BW. The next pics are the new tires on my 5BW. I provided MSPN 79871 and MSPN 10365 from Michelins website and want to make sure I have the correct information before going back to the installer.

They do not appear to be the TPC spec's: 3162 (fronts) or 3163 (rears)

Fronts are definitely not TPC and I cannot see TPC on the rear, so likely not either. TPC tires for the 5BW are 275 and 305. The fronts you have are 285. Looks like new tires were mounted on the new wheels. Given that the 285 size is for the Precision Package, I assume your car had that and your tire/wheel combo is in place of the Cup 2 tires. The Cup 2 tires were 285 in front.

I think your question can be answered by...

Michelin makes that tire set in two different types (same sizes).

You have the one that does not come on the CT5-V Blackwing without PP. The TPC SPEC 3162 are the original equipment tires for non PP.

Good news is, they are the same tire size.

They are differently constructed with different rubber compounds in certain places. Cadillac did a lot of testing on the CT5-V Blackwing (4100lbs) to determine what worked best for track use (not drag strip).

Good news for you, if you don't plan on tracking your car, you might not notice.

The one other difference is the foam liner, designed to help lower the road noise.

I am going to add a photo of my CT5-v Blackwing tires, Car does not have the PP.

I rotated the photo so you could better read the Spec information, the caliper is not on the top. The rear is TPC SPEC3163

If the PP car is ordered from the factory with 4S tires, then they will be TPC spec. Usually non-TPC tires happen when the Cup 2 tires are swapped out by a tire shop who does not know (or care).

Tires....just another confusing thing with these cars.....like the oil. Between name changes, part number changes, it can be confusing.

The following information applies to a 2026 CT5-V Blackwing with no PP, or PP vehicle ordered without Cup 2 tires

I am in the process of putting new wheels on my car.

When I look at discount tire there are 2 options, the cheaper option are the non factory spec tires. It is not readily apparent which choices are the factory spec. There is a note "Original Equipment Tire".

Also in the tire description, it ends in "GM", I copied this from the discount tire description 305 /30 R19 102Y XL BSW GM

GM is not marked on the tire itself, but the TPC SPEC 3162 (front) and TPC SPEC 3163 (Rear) is on the tires.

I will order the spec tires, and inspect them before installation for the TPC SPEC info and foam liners.

Hope this helps.

Sorry for the long winded description, it might help the next reader of these posts.

Best,

Has anyone dismounted a set of the original tires?

Are there foam liners in the front and rear?

Good info @MR-2026 . IIRC, only the front has the foam. I do not know if you can see it or if it's "built in" to the tire somehow. I also believe you can get TPC with or without foam.

I was going to guess that only the front, but this is just based on drag racing experience ending in Top Alcohol.

I just wondered if the foam would survive the possible rotational forces and potential vibration specific to the driven axle. (sorry about that).

if going to discount tire, join the V club. You get 10% off all tires at discount as part of their fleet discount. You'll also be eligible for an ADDITIONAL 10% rebate from Michelin.

The leader is the Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02.
I've used Continental tires on many of my vehicles and loved them as well.

The ECS02s seem to get good reviews, but they run extremely narrow for a given size. The ECS02 is one of the few tires available in the factory 285/30R19 and 335/25R20 for the C7 Z06, and they're reasonably priced, but they look so funny when installed--like a muscle-bound dude who skips leg day.

Thanks for the information everyone, I just wanted to make sure they were the standard tires before back. I did my research here and told them about the correct TPC spec for the car before ordering. He either forgot, or the warehouse sent the incorrect tires.

Yes, it is a PP so the 285 is correct. I did not know about the V club discount and will join and talk to them about that discount.

Is there a coupon or link to the additional 10% from Michelin?

Michelin is a 10% rebate for 2026 for V-club members. Form to fill and mail in.
