2022 CT4-V Blackwing
I misplaced the second key fob and would like to explore options to get a replacement one in a different color than red. It would be very helpful if you can share the P/N of your colored key fob and whether it has the remote start button. Thank you!

What's the procedure for programming a new/extra key fob?

When I took delivery of my car one of the fobs was missing. The dealer ordered me another one and had it shipped right to my house. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to follow online instructions to program it I had to bring it back to the dealer. Their "top tech" said that the blackwings have to be reprogrammed using the service department computer and that the standard programming procedure does not work.

I was looking at this the other day and here are the part numbers I identified (note that the online dealer witesites don't include many details in the descriptions; for each part number I found I searched images to determine the color and button variant):

85541922Remote Control Door Lock (blue w/remote start)
85541923Remote Control Door Lock (red w/remote start)
85541924Remote Control Door Lock (red w/o remote start)
85541925Remote Control Door Lock (blue w/remote start)
85541926Remote Control Door Lock (blue w/o remote start)
85541927Remote Control Door Lock (red w/remote start)
85541928Remote Control Door Lock (bronze w/o remote start)
85541929Remote Control Door Lock (bronze w/remote start)
85541930Remote Control Door Lock (plain w/o remote start)
85541931Remote Control Door Lock (plain w/remote start)

I recommend double checking part numbers with a dealer before ordering...

I'm new to the forum and wanting to replace my FOB. I found a replacement. Is it as simple as swapping the shell. I think I figured out how to remove the electronics. has anyone done this successfully that can offer any insight? Here's the OEM part although I'm skeptical about it buying it from ebay - OEM 2020-2024 Cadillac CT4 CT5 Smart Key Fob Remote 5B YG0G20TB1 | eBay

Aha! That explains the sticker printed "1924" on my remote. Also has a scan code on the sticker, of some sort. I can't scan it. Oh well, I'll peel it off and save it.

Picked up a used '24 CT4BW a couple days ago and it only had 1 key fob. The dealer purchased and programmed a replacement for me so I had 2 again but the replacement key shows up as "key 3" on the display and this limits the functions you can do when using it (only keys 1 and 2 have full permissions).

Any idea if this is something I can address or does it have to go back to the dealer?

It sounds like the lost key (#1) is still active. There is no reason (aside from laziness) the dealer did not delete it and either promoted fob #2 to #1 or programmed the new fob as #1.

I would want this fixed.

I can't remember the specific settings off the top of my head but I discovered it while I was messing around in the menus trying to familiarize myself with the features. An error message would pop up stating something to the effect that I was using key 3 but needed key 1 or 2 to continue.

Just got off the phone with the local GM dealer (Chevrolet/GMC) and they aren't sure they can do it. Any idea what exactly is involved? I have Key 1 and 3.

I purchased the car in TX and am living in AZ so I'm not going to drive the 1400 miles back lol.

I had the same problem when I picked up my new (at the time) 2022 5BW in Sep 2021. My sales manager told me the key was missing when he called to tell me my car had just been delivered.

At the time there were stories about new cars being stolen here in the northeast as key fobs were disappearing in transit or upon dealer delivery, only to have car thieves come to steal the cars off the dealer lots before they could be prepped and sold. I shared some of the stories with my sales manager at the time and made him lock my car in the shop until I could take delivery.

He also promptly ordered a new key fob overnight and then had all keys wiped out of my car's memory and reprogrammed the remaining one and new one. He put his top service tech on it who I spoke to at the time. The wipe needs to be done with their computer and cannot be done thru dash screen menus or with a hand held scanner for security reasons. It's a 2 hour process.

Your dealer is being lazy. A good service tech should be able to do this. I recommend you press your dealer on this if you don't know the whereabouts of key #2.

I don't think they're being lazy, I believe they likely don't know exactly what is involved and are hesitant to do it.

Then best to check with the next closest dealer to see if they know how to do it.

Tom-ay-to, tom-ah-to. That's the precise definition of being lazy, the way many of us look at it I think. They are too lazy to figure out exactly what is involved, too lazy to dig into it and solve the problem.
