Any one have experance running reg. gas in a north star motor?

Any one have experance running reg. gas in a north star motor?

No doubt you're asking the question because you think you can save money by doing that, but you likely cannot or the amount saved will be so small it's not worth it.

If the engine requires premium fuel, you may damage the engine running it on 87-octane gas.

If the engine is recommended to be run on premium fuel, you can use 87-oct but you'll have to live with retarded spark timing, the higher coolant temperature which comes with that and decreased fuel economy because the spark is retarded such that the engine won't knock on 87.

Now, there is one exception to all this and that is if you never accelerate aggressively. If you never, ever use more than, say, 1/3 throttle, then there is probably no issue with using 87-oct fuel.
