Thank you! I plan to hold onto this one long-term, as it will only gain more pedigree (and value) with time.Your Le Monstre edition looks amazing!
You will have to hold it 30-40 years and rarely ever drive it. Not much fun that way.Thank you! I plan to hold onto this one long-term, as it will only gain more pedigree (and value) with time.
30-40 years? Used 2022 5BW’s are selling at or above MSRP 4 years later. With LM being limited to 101 units, they will demand a premium in the market and will sell considerably above standard models (not even factoring in whether this is last 6mt blackwing Cadillac makes). You will have to hold it 30-40 years and rarely ever drive it. Used Blackwings are NOT selling above MSRP. You may seem some listed for sale above MSRP but they aren't selling. The overwhelming majority of used Blackwings are currently advertised and selling UNDER MSRP right now. You're going to be shocked on the value of any of these special edition Blackwings but like I said, best case, it will take 30-40 years to generate any decent profit and that's if you keep the miles down very low. The more rare the car, the more mileage matters. It's a poor investment overall unless you just want to pass it down to your children one day and like to look at it sitting in a garage or storage facility. There have been numerous low volume special edition Blackwings released and none of them have appreciated in any meaningful amount yet. The problem with all of these special edition models is that there's nothing special or different about them other than colors, graphic packages, limited numbers, etc..and that just doesn't generate meaningful appreciation long term. Take a car like the Buick Regal GNX, only 547 made, but what separates it from the standard Buick Regal GN is not only cosmetic features, but special wheels, suspension, and of course engine upgrades that could only be gotten in the GNX. That car set records, was game changer for performance cars and will always be remembered because of it. It is special. That car came out in 1987 and it didn't really start to appreciate enough to matter until the 2000s and now 40 years later, it's finally worth a substantial amount more. I just don't see any version of a Blackwing doing that because they made too many and the limited production special edition models aren't different enough to matter.30-40 years? Regardless, I only average <3k miles a year in each car I own and drive them all as they are intended to be (track, mountain rallys, etc).
Perhaps you are correct, but market trends suggest otherwise.
You make a valid point and I’m not expecting to profit from the car when (or if) I sell it. That said, I do believe its unique spec will help it hold value well and command a reasonable premium over standard BW’s with similar miles. Ideally, I’d like to essentially drive it for “free” over time and anything beyond that is a nice bonus.Used Blackwings are NOT selling above MSRP. Now that, I can absolutely guarantee will happen. You make a valid point and I’m not expecting to profit from the car when (or if) I sell it. Thanks, will check them out! I think I might have seen your car at Halcyon if you're close to Alpharetta? My office is there and I saw a Le Monstre pull in one day. Great looking ride.Atlanta Auto Aesthetics in Alpharetta. They did my Le Monstre and are top notch. Tell Current that Chuck sent you.
I am there now and again at the food hall, so good chance it was me. I reside not too far away near Lanier islands and Road Atlanta. Thanks, will check them out!
