Looking at the order guide it is showing that the front splitter is mandatory on the 10 speed, but optional at no cost on the manual. I'm guessing this is maybe because it directs more airflow to where a transmission fluid cooler would be or something? Anyone know the benefits of optioning it on the manual? Does it, for instance, offer the same additional front downforce as the carbon fiber package front splitter? Is it essentially the exact same as the carbon one, but just a different material?

Right now I have it added to my order, but am looking for more info and any downsides

Dont overthink. Nothing with performance like that. Its regulatory/crash and optional content is different . Nothing with cooling or transmissiin.

So then

So then are there any advantages or disadvantages to adding it as an option on the 6 speed?

its a no cost option not a single disadvantage.
