Newbie question: ride quality diff in 2025 5BW

Did he quit again?
He left recently and went into the financial sector. He is a friend of mine that started from the V club years ago, so it is a bummer he left, but I understand his reasons. We are still friends, I just don't see him at the dealership anymore.

I talked to him briefly a year or two ago and he seems like a nice guy. I sold cars for a short while and I now have a lot more sympathy and compassion for those of you in the business.

I still don't trust anyone (especially sales managers) but at least I'm nicer about it now. :beer

Just remember the car salesman is not on your team, no matter how smooth they talk. They are as slippery as a politician. By the end of the deal, I’ve always felt I’ve lost some of my dignity. Like a whore that performs to satisfy a crack addiction.

You have not worked with me yet ;). I will tell customers not to do a deal if I don't think it is right for them. I don't want customers to lose money for no reason because of timing or a bad trade value. With a car purchase, I will answer any question I am given honestly. Telling the truth is much easier than having to remember lies.

Repeat customers and referrals are really important to me so I try to be on the customer's side or at least objective. If I treat you well and you have a good experience, you will come back to me in the future and you will send me your friends and family.

The phrase I tell my customers is, "I want you to think about me and smile after you buy the car. If you can't do that, then this isn't the right deal or car for you." I would rather lose a deal than have an unhappy customer.

I care about my customers more than my wallet, sadly. I have a customer who is buying her third car from me now and we are losing money to get her what she wants, but I know she will come back to me and send me her friends and family. I may not make as much money as other sales associates, but my customers are happy.

That’s all well and good, except your dealership would not sell me a 5BW in 2022 because I’m in Arizona. That’s fine, the dealership can make any rules they want. But you lost my business and any future business.

My local dealer did get me what I wanted in July 2022 for MSRP. My sales guy was personable enough, just the usual games of negotiating for not charging me for BS stuff I didn’t want. The service department and parts people have been decent to me, getting me a front splitter substantially below their cost.

In 2022 they had us over a barrel since, as you know, the car was very hard to get. And a large percentage of dealers were even worse with $10K to $15K ADM. I refuse to pay ADM for any car and the people of shaky constitution that did are part of the problem. In the end I gave up little dignity to get my fix. I recovered quickly after leaving the dealership and taking a long shower, some antibiotics, and liberal amounts of Preparation H.
