Need help with CT5V BW vibration

Bad gas may have water in it.

I hope that truly was it, and that you don't have any further issues!

So, as some of you might know, we’ve got 2024 six speed has a vibration on deceleration highway speed 80 2000+ RPMs brought it to the dealer pico scope sent to GM Of course they say everything is normal in my opinion it’s not. If there’s anyway I could get a ride with somebody in their car in Northern New Jersey, northern PA lower Hudson Valley. Don’t want to put anybody out. I’d make arrangements whatever time works for you. Any help greatly appreciated. I really just want to find out if this is actually normal for a manual car. Thanks in advance.
Richard
Dear ‘Slick’
I have a 2024 5BW manual trans with the same problem you describe - vibration sets in around 2000RPM in 5th and 6th gears when coasting in gear. Depressing the clutch, shifting to neutral or applying throttle removes the vibration.
Based on dealer PICO test, GM approved a new engine, but this did not correct the vibration. Currently waiting on GM to approve further investigation and correction.
What is the current situation with your vibration issue?

We have a poor dealer locally, pico supposedly said everything was normal. I don’t believe it. We do not drive the car often it is still present fifth sixth gear from around 80miles an hour to 60 around 2000 RPMs. Definitely audible and noticeable. In my opinion, it’s a bad bearing in the transmission. General motors tried to tell me that was lugging the engine that’s bullshit.Good luck! Keep me posted find something else.

The local dealer where I purchased my BW was similarly unhelpful - they stated ‘this is a high performance car with manual trans and there will be vibration”
I then took the car to a big dealer in Toronto and they agreed the vibration is not normal. Although I can moderate my driving so I don’t induce the vibration, if left uncorrected, this will have a negative impact at resale.
Therefore, I intend on pressing GM until I get the vibration corrected. BTW, on another forum, a 2024 5V BW manual trans owner stated his car had no vibration issue.

How many miles on the tires? Any ‘events’ with those? Had the tire/wheel combinations checked for balance?

Thx for the tip Z28.
Yes, the dealer checked the tires and wheels first and found no issues. The vehicle has 2500 miles on it.

I ask about the tires because it’s a variable that I expect will be one you can eliminate with some tests. It would be interesting to understand how they may have ‘checked’ them. Did the tires get driven a lot below freezing temperatures?

After that, I would be looking at driveshaft and center support bearing and bushing.

Have you personally been under the car and looked at all the mounting points of things? Everything is tight?

Thx again. I’m not aware as to what the dealer did to test the tire/wheel balance, but will check. I suspect as you imply, the 2 piece driveshaft and mountings.
I’ve driven the car only once in sub zero temps - the original tires are useless for winter driving, unless you want to go sideways.

I thought these cars were designed to go sideways. LOL

I'm a bit late to the thread here, but you may want to ensure the tires were in fact 'road force' balanced.

My buddy’s ‘24 MT BW had a similar vibration. The shop had it on and off for over 6 months, escalated to factory, etc., but never could solve it. They told him it was normal, but it unnerved him enough that he ended up returning it to the dealer (I believe they allowed it since it was still very low miles and couldn’t solve the issue). My ‘25 MT has no vibrations whatsoever in any gear or RPM, so the vibrations are not a normal feature of these cars.
