Oof I bet the limit is maybe 45-55 there. That's gonna be a hefty ticket.

That’s rough!

I got my first ticket in ten years just a couple weeks ago.

I was cruising up I-80 just past the speed traps East of Auburn, and this Explorer cuts me off by getting in the fast lane going 55mph. So frustrated, as soon as I could pass him I did so and punched it… well, it was a CHP and he immediately pulled me over marking me at 84 in a 65. Felt like entrapment honestly,

Regardless though, I could’ve been hit many other times going well over 100 on more desolate highways, so I’m not too upset. I’ll still go to the court date and see what happens. I figure make em work for it since I’ve got the time and the money.

I am retired and have told many complainers to just go to court and play " let's make a deal". Usually it works out with a monetary lower fine and zero points. Just a waste of your time and some money. Most just don't want the points to show on their record and possibly raise their insurance rates. My friend asked my advice recently about a moving violation he got (commercial veh in a residential) and they made it a "jay walking'' summons and smaller fine. He was happy.
****My favorite driver comment..."did you make your quota"? I would reply that those were illegal and I am allowed to write as much as I wanted !

What do you mean about let’s make a deal? I 100% plan on going to court, and I’m almost positive the CHP officer will be there as it’s a pretty sleepy county. I mean if I just explain that I sped when I passed him due to frustration from him cutting me off and only going 55 in a 65, what are the chances they show me some sympathy?

Do you have PDR? If so, save the footage of him cutting you off before it gets overridden. Then, present it in court.

I don’t have a PDR unfortunately. The guy that originally ordered my car kept it pretty basic other than the color and the interior. I do have a dash cam, but it wasn’t turned on unfortunately!

The courts are part of the government money generator. They won't let you off unless you have 100% proof you were innocent. There are always 3 sides to the story. They want a piece of your wallet and really couldn't care less about whether you get points or not. If they got a cut of the insurance rate increase, then yes , they would give you points. Uh oh ! I may have just given them an idea ! My village put in LPR License Plate Reader cameras and it was a multi million dollar windfall for the village, the tow truck companies, insurance companies and DMV. The village hasn't raised property taxes in over 11 years . BUT....every car caught on the camera was guilty. Alot of drivers out there with improper plates, registrations, no insurance or suspended/revoked licenses.
PS: as soon as you admit that you "sped" (regardless of your excuse) you will be found guilty. Don't admit to anything! Him doing 55 in a 65 doesn't mean anything. 65 is the "maximum" speed limit......he could do 45 if he wanted. As soon as you go OVER the limit, you are done.
