V-Series Cadillac(s)?
2023 5 Blackwing
First, my thanks to everyone on this site for all the knowledge, and entertainment, on the Blackwing. I have been watching the site since before I received my 2022 CT5-V three months ago and found it invaluable, and fun. Car had 600 miles, is black raven, black with black accent seats, A10, satin graphite wheels and black lug nuts and red calipers. No sun roof so my helmet fits. Car was just upgraded at ADM Performance in TX with 2.175 pulley, tune, 97mm throttle body with adapter plate, all port blended and a cute new reservoir device to allow easy check of fluid level. Andy did a really great job. Stock dyno was 596hp and 654t at the wheels. After tune, 673 and 727.
All this to say I am looking for anyone that might be going to the Arkansas Mile in July. I have run both Arkansas and The Texas Mile several times, but this is the first time in a Blackwing and hoping for 190. Any advice, experience or comments welcome.
Again, my thanks to all y'all for such a great site.

Congrats on your beast. Quick question, how the HECK do you hook up? I have a hard enough time hooking with stock power on the stock tires with my '22 5 six-speed. Are you running R888R tires or something that to get the power down?

2nd this... I have a hard time hooking 1-2 and sometimes 3...

hammer down = sideways

Simple answer - carefully. Tires are stock - for now.
Car gets a lot more stable after 60 or so. And yes, it can get a little sideways in the beginning. But it's more fun than the M8 competition coupe I just left with four wheel drive - just punch it and go. Mile racers don't launch like quarter mile runs. Everybody, including the really fast guys, of which I am not, tends to ease off the line and then get hooked up. I'll keep you posted on how this works out. Quikag I noticed you are from Dallas, making you about 8 1/2 hours from Blytheville AR. It's a fun way to spend a weekend.

I ran a one mile event in Texas right after I got my 5th-gen Camaro. I did not expect it to be a drag race, but after the first pass it seemed exactly like a drag race. A full mile is nothing compared to the space you need to reach top speed. I expected to reach 150, but knew that when I didn't even redline 4th gear, I was quite a bit short. I never made it :(

Of course that car had much less power than the BW, but I think anyone would need a great launch to really get the most out of a pass.

I was there the entire day and was only able to make about 5 passes. That's nearly 2 hours of waiting for each one. And after all that waiting, you're at top speed for exactly one instant - then stopping again. You don't get to enjoy that top speed for any amount of time or space.

Are the events you've done much shorter lines ?

I have run the Texas Mile five times in a variety of cars. That you got in five runs in one day is amazing, usually two to three is typical. The Arkansas Mile has a lot fewer people on the grid and five to eight runs (if you want that many) is fairly common. You have a choice of one mile or a mile and a quarter run and lots of room to shut down. As far as launch goes, the really fast folks, i.e., consistently over 200 and up to 300, all ease off the line initially to get hooked up, then get on it. There is a video of the guy setting the record of 300 and that how he does it. I have tried doing a quarter mile start a couple of times and it never helped. And I definitely agree, it would be great if you could keep going for a while at speed. Bring your BW to Arkansas, I promise you will be going way past 150.

I believe there is an annual road race there that runs over 100 miles on closed highways. Never been there but looks like fun.

Probably the Silver State Classic. I looked into it many years ago. In order to run in the top unlimited class, or whatever it's called, you have to participate a few times prior in the lower classes to get a feel for it. Makes complete sense though. My intention at the time was to build a procharged 6liter for my '01 camaro ss, and try to break 200 one day. Never happened though
