First time Cadillac owner - CT4-V Blackwing in Boulder, Colorado

Hey all, Colorado car nut here who decided to pull the trigger on a CT4-V Blackwing; slicktop, manual, fancy black interior, climate pack.

I haven't owned a GM product since the 1956 Chevy Bel-Air I had in high school in the 1990s. This replaces a 2003 BMW E46 330i ZHP and joins my 2019 991.2 Carrera T.

My 13 year old daughter and I picked it up at the dealer and immediately drove it on Peak to Peak Highway, one of the best roads in the world (staying under 4500 RPM was not easy). The Blackwing is very, very, very good, but y'all know that.

Question: I am an oil snob, but not an oil cultist. I use the oil that works and produces good UOAs. I haven't found much about oil on these cars. At the risk of making this an oil thread, what are y'all using? I plan to do an oil/filter change early, just because.

very nice, i really like blue on a 4BW (for some reason, just to me, it doesn't look as good on a 5BW). how does it compare to your BMW? probably better in every way I imagine. did you consider an M3 when you were looking?

I no longer live in CO but used to like peak to peak on my Triumph. Been loving my 4BW, so do my kids. They talk about the Blackwing like it’s a lambo.

Welcome to the show. If by chance you have a pic of that '56 Belair I'd love to see it. I too was in HS in the 90's but didn't get my Belair until 2011.

Nice choice Can totally appreciate the pain-of-restraint for the break in period, especially on a road like that. I might have been a little "bad" a couple times

Been on Peak to Peak a few times... but as little kid. So want to get back out that way with a fun ride and the time to just enjoy it all.

I've been driving just to drive and stack the miles--even with these gas prices. I need to hear and feel what this thing can do!

I can confirm that the chassis is absolutely brilliant!

I so wish I did! It was blue & white with the Blue Flame Six and two-speed Powerglide. I want another one.

In many ways, the CT4-V BW seems like a modern E90 M3 or E39 M5, though I admit I've driven neither. My E46 ZHP was the hottest 4-door you could get in the E46 generation, and it feels fairly similar to the CT4-V BW: brilliantly sharp steering, feels lighter than it is, super-smooth 6-cylinder, etc.

The CT4-V BW is objectively better in every way buy one*, though there is something truly special about BMW's golden era.

* BMW's golden era cars had the world's best turn signal stalk. As weird as that sounds, it's such a brilliant feel; tactile, progressive weight, a positive detent, a rigid stalk, and a solid thunk when it cancels. The Caddy has a spongy turn signal stalk. So does my Porsche. I think most cars do, I just never noticed until driving an E46.

I'm tempted to buy the GM part, reengineer it, and install it
