Dealers That Are Not Charging Above MSRP

Traveling a few hrs to look at a manual 24 4BW tomorrow, listed at $75k. What should I offer under MSRP? Seeing people on here with various amounts, I want to be respectful but not leave money on the table.

What is your plan? Are you buying it at MSRP and any discount is a bonus?

Honestly with a 24; I bet you have a little difficulty getting anything significant under MSRP besides any discounts tied to financing.

Well I had a dealership in FL knock off about $1500 off the $70k MSRP, but then they added $3k worth of crazy fees afterwards (paint protection for $1500, $900 doc fee - in MI, where I'm from, doc fee is capped at $260). So that soured me a bit. Wife and I were gonna go down to Orlando, visit harry potter world, and make a whole thing out of it. The dealership I'm going to today, is in MI, but the MSRP is a bit higher. I'm shopping for a CT4V BW, black, manual, with heated and cooled seats. There are about 5 available across count so I was curious what others were able to get recently

I suspect that it depends on the options, the transmission, their inventory, etc.

It kind of depends on the salesperson and sales manager, but I like to have some "ammo" to back up offers... perhaps print off (or if remote, send links) to the tremendous discounts offered at that Maryland dealer who has a bunch of CT4s for $8K off. Sure, they're high MSRP cars, but it's a negotiating point.

Good luck!

Also, make sure that they realize that you are out of town, and when you walk out the door, that's it, game over. Even if it's not. ;)

Haha thank you. Do you know the name of the Maryland dealer? Is it advertised on their site? The only "ammo" I have is the quote for $1500 off from the FL dealer.

The heavily discounted 4BWs are probably '23 special editions.

I’ve learned that there’s always a better deal to be had, but time and energy is worth something. As long as one is happy with their deal and understand that there’s always something left on the table for the transaction, then it’s a good deal. Like in the casinos, the house always wins. My 2 cents and you can definitely disagree with me.

Yup, saw it with the wife today at lunch. We both drove it, signed papers, and got home by 4pm. Sure, I could've saved a few grand flying somewhere but this is the spec we wanted and we're happy.

I think you got a pretty great deal. I talked to quite a few dealers before buying mind and most were at MSRP, and one offered $1500 off of a $75k car. Sounds like you got a pretty awesome build too! How do like that Black Diamond Tricoat? Also post some pics!

Congrats! You are absolutely right - you got what you wanted, you saved time and effort by doing it (semi) locally; sometimes we forget to value our own time.

Hi There, Les Stanford in Dearborn, Michigan is under MSRP. If I am breaking rules please let me know but we are selling them at Supplier Pricing on Blackwings. No Markups and No Addendums.

Funny you asked about Black Diamond Tricoat. A little backstory about that color... I grew up in Detroit, and the 2008 recession hit our family hard. My dad who worked at Chrysler, lost his job, our home was foreclosed, and our only car was repossessed – it was a tough time, but a pretty typical story for Detroit at the time. I was finishing high school then, and my goal was to graduate from Central Michigan University (the most affordable state school) and get a job quickly to help my family recover financially.

After graduating, I landed a job at GM and worked there for almost six years. Every dollar I earned went towards helping my family climb out of the financial hole left by the recession. While at GM, I participated in "The Ambassador Program," which allowed employees to rent a vehicle for a week from their fleet each quarter. Mostly Chevy Malibus, Buick Enclaves, and a handful of performance cars that everyone fought to get. We got lucky one quarter and got a Cadillac CTS V in Black Diamond Tricoat. We made the most of that week, traveling to Toronto to visit the aquarium, showing off the car to my friends and family, and created wonderful memories. That was in 2014.

Fast forward ten years, and my family is better financially, and this time, I'm fortunate enough to afford such a magnificent car. I found one in manual, with the exact specs I wanted (heated/cooled seats), and it’s in Black Diamond Tricoat. Best of all, it was less than two hours away. I had to pull the trigger.

Now that I'm done blabbering, pictures attached. On the left, the 2014 photo of the V we had for a week, and on the right, the new addition a decade later. I still have the same life partner I started out with (now my wife). GM got my family out of the hole 08 put us in, and I'm incredibly fortunate to be able to pay them back.
