I am in market for lightly used CT4V BW 6MT. I like the look of the CF packages but I will never track the car. There are a lot more cars on the market without the CF stuff. Truthfully, I would probably pull the trigger on a car with them but I am worried about the front splitter given I live in a pretty hilly area with a lot of uphill driveways etc (I snapped the rear diffuser out on my Giulia. Fortunately, the bodyshop was able to do a little magic and reattach it without replacement). The front splitter looks a little risky to me - like it would be prone to scraping and breaking off. Any feedback on how worried I should be?

I had my front splitter get snapped 2 months into ownership. I was driving down the freeway and the car in front of me shot a piece of tire back at me and it hit the front and snapped the splitter on the passenger front corner.

The front CF splitter is incredibly fragile. Tapout sells a replacement that is matched but is a complete piece of fiberglass instead of the flimsy plastic that comes from the factory.

Just get a vehicle without much options or frills in my opinion, unless you can get a fair deal on something with more options and carbon. Make it a stick shift if possible but that's just me.

Good luck.

I almost got completely wiped out in my AMG on the interstate. Big rig rear tire exploded like a bomb and shit was flying through the air in all directions. I had to take evasive braking and pull to the shoulder to avoid some serious impact. There was a big enough piece in the air that could have easily gone through the windshield at 80mph. I wasn’t thinking about the car as much as getting killed or injured.

In my 5BW I absorbed a large rock at low speed on a snowy mountain road and didn’t damage the splitter, but did mangle the transmission mount and some trim parts, and big dent in the exhaust.

Interesting thing I’ve learned is that if the debris is in motion, then it’s comprehensive coverage. But if it’s stationary, it’s collision. In my case, the rock was stationary, and I decided not to use insurance.
