Brake light turned on without pressing brake pedal.

Noticed this last night while on a freeway with the cruise control set to 80mph. I accelerated a little to pass a car and let off the gas so the car will resume the 80 cruise.

I noticed the brake lights coming on with only the engine braking from 88 or so down to 80. This was in 6th gear so the engine brake is not aggressive but enough to put on the brake lights.

Thought it was odd, never had a car do that.

Yeah that's weird. EVs do that with regen braking, but I have never heard of it in a non-EV.

WTF is up with GM and rear lights? Reverse lights that come on when you're not in reverse, brake lights come on when you're not braking.

The computer is slowing you down, so it is essentially "braking" and perhaps turning on the brake lights? Gonna have to test this some time.
