As much as I enjoy the feeling of high boost at low rpm that a positive displacement blower gives, the down stream components (clutch, trans, rear end) don't like it. I speak from the experience of building hot rods and engines, and if those down stream components can handle and give good...
My neighbor has a Volt, just loves it. His commute into Sacramento is 104 miles round-trip. He plugs in at the office and by the time he returns home he has consumed 6/100 of a gallon of fuel. Not bad for 104 mile trip is it?
20~21 is all I get also. What our V's need is a 0.50 6th gear. It would have saved us the gas guzzler tax and our highway mileage might of hit 25 mpg. You just can't do any better with an engine revving at 2200 rpm. Give me 1950 rpm any day for highway and I'd be happy. Of course when you build...
I agree with you Pete, as we get older, if our roots were hot rods, then our current cars are the best we have ever had. Getting older just means your done helping the kids with constant coin, now it is our turn.

As the description for this off topic thread states, "to get to know the members better", I'll share my knuckle dragging, Neanderthal side.
First my green side, a Smart Electric.
My green crazy side, this death trap of a scooter can out pace my 'Vette to 40 mph.
Now to the Neanderthal side...
The '90 ZR-1 is a sweet ride indeed. Not quite the "snarl" factor of a 638 hp supercharged, dry sump newer one, but still a ZR-1, top of the hill for the Corvette line.
Welcome Hollywood.
It always amazes me when forums are contrary to democratic process and free speech. Pulling the post that I saw that brought me here is just plain wrong. On my forum, no one has ever been banned, no post ever pulled or closed. I hope this new forum follows a democratic...
My V needs a 0.50 OD, not the 0.63 it has for me to get better fuel mileage. I can only get 21 mpg at best on the highway, just too many rpms at 75 with the current gearing.
Last time I drove east through Montana it was still open. My intention was to cover 480 miles in the shortest amount of time, but your Interstate wasn't good enough for serious speed, so I just kicked back, put the cruise control on my 'Vette for 107 mph @ 2900 rpm and after that distance at...
Montana, last state to have open speed (no limits) on the Interstates. Too bad not any longer, if they return though, will have to call Montana "V country".
And just remember folks, 10 years down the road when this forum is huge, you will have the satisfaction of being a "charter" member with old timer status.
You got to love the fact that 25 years from now, no one is even going to remember a stick shift, high performance Caddy, let alone a hp Caddy wagon. Kudos to you for choosing a stick wagon.
Of all the cars I've have, some are impossible for my 92 year old Dad to get into, and all the others he can only tolerate about 60 miles. The V is a whole different story, he gets to have his side of the cabin at 80*, my side 72*. He also is not aware of the speed or cornering forces, so we...
