Yep the brakes can still be bled the old fashioned way. Even though there is a brake by wire system, the brake pedal is mechanically connected to the master cylinder. I did it that way last year in prep for the track and I will be doing it the same way this year.
+1 on using rodent deterrents/traps. They will chew through wires like you would not believe. The further those little guys stay away from my cars, the better.
Putting my car away is just another reason for me to fuel my car addiction and have another vehicle. I've got a GTI and with a nice...
I've got the Watkins Glen edition and I jack my car up using the 1.5 ton floor jack you can get from Harbor Freight and a small piece of 2x4 wood. Plenty of clearance between the jack and carbon side skirts. I track my car so it's up in the air quite often. I have yet to damage the car by...
Guess I was wrong about the wheel. You learn something new every day. Everything that I have ever seen related to either a 4BW or 5BW has the BW exclusive wheel in it, so I had no idea you could get anything other than it.
That kinda sucks that you have to pay extra to get the BW exclusive...
The V-mode button puts the car into the aptly named V-mode. Just a brief description, this mode is like My Mode, but you get a few more customization parameters. It also allows you to activate PTM modes higher than Dry without going into Track mode and, with a PTM mode selected, enables things...
Just checked my window sticker, my wheel is also listed as "Steering Wheel, Performance Leather Wrapped, Thick Rim w/ V-Mode Button" and I also have the "Steering Wheel, Heated, Automatic" option. For brevity, my steering wheel has the serial number plaque, V-mode button on the left, and the PTM...
I agree with Steelwing, seems odd. As far as I am aware, all Blackwings come with the serial number plaque on the steering wheel. The special edition cars do have special numbers to indicate which special edition they are, but the plaque is not exclusive to those cars.
As for the buttons, the...
I was at a stoplight today waiting to make a turn, admiring the front end of the car in the reflection of the bumper of the car in front of me, and I noticed that the turn signal light did not match the turn signal indication in the interior, both on the gauge cluster and the auditory indicator...
I've got the track alignment on my car. It definitely feels more responsive on the street versus when I had the stock alignment on it. I much prefer the way it drives with the track alignment.
My daily commute is only a couple miles, back roads, so I'm perfectly fine keeping it on the track...
There are two alignment pins on top of the struts that you can remove. Removing them allows you to push the top of the struts towards the engine since the mounting holes are much larger than the bolts that go through them. It's akin to installing camber plates. This alone will not get you to the...
In stark contrast to yesterday, the weather today was beautiful. Got some nice group photos of the cars. I think some of the cars were here just for the parade lap as there weren't as many today as there were yesterday.
Another cool experience today was getting to see a real-time pit stop...
Cool! I'll have to check out the post.
Thanks! I did not get to check out any of those on this trip, spent basically all of my time at the track. I have been to the Seneca Lodge and hiked the Gorge the previous times I've been here. Greatly enjoy both. I have yet to check out the old race...
I'm at the Six Hours of the Glen this weekend as a part of the Cadillac Car Corral, and I figured I would share a couple photos I took of some of the cars today, including the greatest number of Watkins Glen Edition cars in one place at the same time (as far as I'm aware). Got a bonus of the 4BW...
Second on not a fan of the Motive. Could not get the cap to seal at all. I think this is more a fault of the design of the GM reservoir. The three tabs just don't provide enough clamping force to create enough of a seal. I just un-plugged the battery and got my dad to help me do it the old...
