Honestly OE works really well unless you're experienced on track and pushing hard, or just running notoriously hard-on-brakes tracks. They run the OE pads all day long at Spring Mountain and they hold up; mine survived Pocono and Lime Rock without issue and just track fluid. Ferodo DS2500 is...

XP12s are probably going to eat rotors with street driving and are specifically flagged as not for street driving given they need a lot of temp to actually bite and will dust like crazy. Believe Carbotech advertises all their compounds as compatible so you can flip from 1521s to XP12s when...

    Tall Steve's Blackwings

I can answer for me based on my poor man's Lyriq (Acura ZDX). As a pure commuter or grocery getter, an EV is unmatched. Really quick, silent, and basically maintenance free other than tires. Doesn't need to be warmed up on a cold day. Never need to stop for gas. No need for mechanical sympathy...

    Tall Steve's Blackwings

I currently lease an Acura ZDX (same platform, built by GM). The Lyriq V will be on the short list of replacement options. Way nicer interior in the Lyriq and adding 125 horsepower wouldn't hurt (though even with 490 the Acura pulls more than hard enough for a commuter).

People with the Sky Cool Gray seats; any regrets?

No issues on my '22, coming up on 3 full years of ownership and 20k miles.

    Tall Steve's Blackwings

I did a one-pay lease on mine for ~7k. Hilariously cheap and an excellent daily to knock around. Rides well, great sound system, pulls hard.

I call it "Old Man Racing Blue" as a joke but it does look damn good.

Got it - then he added the CS/CSL "style" more open grille and a bunch of exterior carbon.

Others may disagree, but I have decided it is very much not worth my time to deal with an officer deciding to take his bad day out on me for an insignificant infraction. I'd happily just pay the fines if they would mail me tickets, but that's not how it works unfortunately.

Met a friend at the commuter lot. First CS I've seen and the front is still... bad.

Yeah, Road and Track ran with including the Blackwings (incorrectly).

Did you do or are doing V academy

Be glad you didn't get a BMW with the nut crunching carbon buckets they offer.

    The Blackwing Spotting Thread

Saw a Rift 4BW in Paramus NJ today, getting off Rt 17S and onto the Parkway. I was, of course, not in mine or I'd have pulled in behind you. Anybody here?

    CT4-V 4BW to C8, tempted

It's crazy to me that Tremec and GM f'd it up this badly. Combine it with the issues on the truck engines and it's a couple really dark marks on GM.

All 3 GTPs earlier today. Still at the track so these aren't full resolution or processed at all. I have... many many more that I'll have to work through.

    New Lyriq-V review

Yeah, it's purely an opportunistic deal. If it was my only car, I'd need more than 10. Fortunately still have my 4BW.

    New Lyriq-V review

It's half the normal NJ tax for EVs (so 3.325%), but only on the lease cost itself. The car is cool. Honda/Acura folks hate it because it's a badge swapped GM, but it's just fine for me. Hell, I was ready to pay more for an Equinox or Blazer EV just to eat the commute miles.

    24 months/10k miles, one-pay $7,000.

    New Lyriq-V review

I actually just leased its platform-mate, the Acura ZDX with a paltry 490 horsepower. They're basically giving them away for absurdly cheap. It's surprisingly quick and serves perfectly for commuter duty. This would be an interesting upgrade path in a couple of years when my lease is up.
