Looks like this is relate to First Brands going out of business. PF63 filters were made by them and now are NLA. And AC Delco is not taking dealer orders for them anymore. So now there is PF63A and PF63B for various applications.

when they replaced the clutch - did they just take the trans out or did they drop the whole engine/trans assembly and did the clutch on the stand? I believe proper procedure is to drop the the engine/trans as a unit and then separate it. Its difficult to align the trans back correctly...

Clutch shudder is not normal. It's in the same category or Tremec being notchy in 2nd. It just not. There are plenty of cars which are behaving normally.
