Community Feedback Needed! Apex Wheels Project ML-10 Survey

Some of you may have already seen the reveal of this project on our instagram, but we wanted to reach out to the Cadillac community on the forums as well to collect feedback about the development of a new wheel design. Project ML-10 Background: After Josh, one of our Senior Product Engineers...

    Apex Wheels for CT4-V Blackwing

As some others have mentioned, no they do not fit the factory cap. Most of these fitments are BMW wheels with the right width/offset, which is going to be designed around the BMW cap. There are stickers on Etsy you can overlay if you don't like the Apex logo cap that comes with the wheel.

Not exactly, the factory wheels use a tapered lug seat so when all 5 lug nuts are torqued down (ideally in a star/cross pattern), the hub is still floating in the bore. That's why with the wheel pressed up against the rotor but without anything torqued, you can shift it up/down/left/right...

Some sizes are hub centric, some aren't. They're only there to help with initial installation though, once the lug nuts are torqued down the wheel becomes lug centric and the hub is not doing anything. Same way the factory wheels are setup.

Your car looks amazing! Thanks for sharing photos. They only know how to use an impact gun with an impact socket, which is where the issue can lie. If they used a chrome/thin-walled socket, it would work fine. For forged wheels where each one is machined from block of aluminum and designed...

This is correct. The factory lugs will work when used with a thin walled socket. For people who desire to use an impact socket (Please don't impact your lug nuts on/off), anything with a 19mm hex will work. I believe both Gorilla and McGuard offer solutions in M14x1.5 thread pitch for that.

Those are 19", and I'm 99% sure the car is lowered but do not recall what the owner said for springs. Looks amazing! Is this 19x10" ET20 front and 19x11" ET44 rear with factory tires? Mind if I add them to the website?

Offset changes with wheel width, so there is more than a 1mm difference. As you can see here, the 18x10" ET42 sits just over 7mm further out compared to the 18x9.5" ET43. The Orange car is factory suspension, yes.

Thanks for the order! The front wheel will be essentially in the same spot as the factory wheel, but the rear will be slightly further out. Not sure which offset 9.5" you ordered, but if it was ET43 it'll be 5mm further out and if its ET35, it'll be 13mm further out.

Just to confirm in case anyone else is curious, because I believe we already spoke directly over email, but yes the 18x9.5" ET22 front, 18x10" ET42 rear setup is a direct fit with the factory tires and can only improve the handling, since you are getting a little more of that tire onto the...

    Apex Wheels for CT4-V Blackwing

We did test fit 295/35-18 but it's pretty tall for the rear and would likely rub under compression with the 18x10.5" ET40 wheel. Is it doable? I think so, but it would depend on how much you like your fender liners, or if the track(s) you visit have large sections of heavy compression. 295/30-18...

    Apex Wheels for CT4-V Blackwing

Correct, everyone I've talked to directly has been purchasing them for winter use with 255/35-18 tires all around. I suppose it could work just fine as a daily/street oriented setup too, again with the same size tire, but some people may not prefer the smaller rear tire look.

Let's See A Special or Group Buy on Apex Wheels

Traditionally our Black Friday sales have been an even bigger savings compared to most Group Buys, and that isn't going to change for this year either. Everything has been finalized, you'll just have to wait as patiently as possible for everything to go live on November 20th :)

There are no plans to do a run of smaller bore wheels, since they would be the exact same spec as what we currently offer just with a different center bore. We include aluminum rings for free with every Blackwing order on the website. There are no safety concerns or issues running the rings...

18x9" ET30 works front and rear as a square setup, we've been selling a number of those setups to owners over the past few weeks in preparation for winter. The next sale will be over Black Friday, we are not doing Group Buys anymore as a company. I touched on that in another thread

Let's See A Special or Group Buy on Apex Wheels

Hey, we appreciate the enthusiasm! Over the summer we decided to move away from Group Buys going forward in an effort to improve the customer experience. Too often, Group Buys were saddled with long wait times and further delays. Any promotions we will have as a company will be in the form of a...

I know this is an older thread but now that we're actually supporting vendors, I wanted to hop in and thank everyone for the discussion and feedback. I made numerous notes from all of your comments which will be helpful for us moving forward as we explore more with the Blackwing models...
