Overall I've found even with the craziness in '22 the process is so much more pleasant and achievable than, say, trying to order a GT Porsche.
If I'm reading this right you said they replaced the entire engine, not replaced components in the engine? If that's right there is no way that a Cadillac dealer would drop a random engine in there, even if it was possible to do that and I have doubts. You're good - if it's true that they...
I've got one of the 22's without the blackwing badges. No CF and a nice boring satin steel metallic color. I'm so under the radar that during parade laps for V's at Laguna Seca last year, I got grouped at the back of the line just in front of an XT4 :ROFLMAO:
If I debadge it completely, get...
I got a Garmin inReach satellite communicator and have it in the 5BW at all times. Not because I'm especially paranoid about the motor (well, I am a bit) but almost all of my fun driving is in remote mountain backroads with no service ... free of priii, cyclists and other annoyances
Should...
Nuh uh! Every piece of the Blackwing LT4 engine is designed, machined and assembled by GM PhDs by hand while wearing white lab coats. :ROFLMAO: Sorry I could not resist a tiny bit of sarcasm.
Appreciating the crankshaft is a different part and that the engines are not the same, the failure...
This guy may have an axe to grind, but I found the video illuminating. I am sure they are buying certain engine parts from the same supplier across all their V8s and following the mantra of going for the cheapest possible part and then asking the supplier to cut corners to make it cheaper still.
From what I've heard, the engine replacement shows up on a carfax as a regular maintenance, but optimistically, if they're now getting in-spec crankshafts and they give you an engine with one of those, once they replace your engine you'll be worry free.
Really sorry to hear that, that sucks. I've added you. Keep us posted on the resolution, I hope it's a speedy one for you. These are incredibly fun, special cars. I really hope GM makes this right for all those affected, or this will be an example of a halo product actively destroying a brand.
I feel exactly the same way, there's a nagging fear that it's "not a matter of if, but when", but then when I take it out on an empty twisty backroad first thing in the morning I promise myself I can never sell it :D
Based on what I've read of other people's posts, our LT4 features a...
I don't want to give the AI generated video a click, in the vain hope that withholding my view will stop encouraging that kind of thing... see human generated video below.
That being said, yeah, if I wanted the fastest sedan in the world I'd get a Lucid Air Sapphire. If I want the most fun...
My outside guess is that Cadillac will be borrowing Zhou Guanyu from reserve duties at Ferrari and pairing him with Checo. At the end of the day there has to be some marketing return for the operation, and this pairing covers GM's two biggest markets for Cadillac.
Maybe not vintage but love it. Great color too.
Re: what counts as Vintage, I drive with a group that is 'mostly vintage' in its criteria, with a small allowance for modern cars like mine. They define Vintage as anything 1999 or older, and that certainly makes me feel old!
It seems like a lot of the bottom-end failures happen at low miles, but @CT5BWenthusiast had rod bearings go at 21,000. Issues with lifters seem to be something that could happen any time. Though for context I'm still tracking 'only' 15 reported failures on this forum from MY22-24
@Slick Blackwings that sucks, I'm really sorry to hear it. These are amazing cars, it is so annoying that they come with this 'Sword of Damocles' engine. I have added you to the actual "list" linked below. You've got a 22 and 24 in your profile... which one failed?

I'm curious to know too, just because I'm still trying to find a dealer that's trustworthy. On my last visit to my local dealer (in the town where it's good to be alive) I was told my 21K mile 5BW was 'in the red' for a transmission AND differential fluid change (when dropping off the car, prior...
