A 20" spare won't fit behind the front seats in the passenger footwell. Even if you could prop-up the tire in that space the door wouldn't close - I tried it. :(

There might be a trunk escape pull, inside the lid, man. I think I read in the manual if someone gets trapped. Or if your lid is stuck closed with no power you'd have to crawl through the back seat. But that pull lever. might check it.
