So, who keeps track of the used car market prices?

Everyone has a number; no matter how important/valuable the object is to you. Sometimes you realize the object is more meaningful than the fair market value or sometimes the market value is better than the personal value. Find your lane and you might end up with two 5BW that you can't part with!

Thoughts on purchasing a used blackwing that was a V academy car. Try to get at bargain price or avoid at all costs??

Not to mention it appears it was a press car before its time at SM. I agree with the sentiment that the car will probably be fine, but you have to get a great deal on it because SM cars are the proverbial scarlet letter in the retail market (for most).

Dealer Tech Didnt Realize I have PDR

Just to be clear, my comments are about @caddydadee story, not the OP. Also, I'm all about honesty, being personally accountable, and an expectation of professionalism, not so much about knee-jerk calls for sacking people that are otherwise good employees (assuming here). This is a great...

Dealer Tech Didnt Realize I have PDR

So much cancel culture in this thread...I get it in the context of the OP starting it in 2022, but not so much now. A personal opinion and not being proficient at a manual is cause for firing? Maybe he is a fantastic tech that does factory level service work.

What were your must have options?

Just a side note on dash cams; it's important to consider the plausibility that the presence of dash cam footage can actually work against you when assigning responsibility/liability in a crash. It seems counter-intuitive but there are times that the lack of footage can serve you better than...

Slow leak, guidance on how to proceed

I have a to deal with a leak at least once a year (between my wife and kids, I steer around road debris ) but I never thought to post online about it. I just take the offending wheel/tire to my local tire shop for a (hopefully) quick and easy repair.

    Probably Dumb Questions

LOL, tech minded people...I guess the fact that I read the owners manual makes me an IT expert!

    I'm Asking Because I Simply Don't Know...

It's an interesting discussion that I hadn't really thought about, but it's definitely not a barrier to long-term ownership for me. The BW is so good I can't imagine long-term parts being a real barrier. Just because you typically keep cars 10 years doesn't mean you have to. The biggest...

So, who keeps track of the used car market prices?

@BimmerFan Is that about average for your ownership tenure? I have my original 5BW on Autotrader too, lots of mid-$80's offers from dealers, but no private buyers. Like you said, its a small population that can pay cash or get financing on a high value used car. Interest rates aren't helping...

Am I the only one here interested in vintage vehicles?

How do you define vintage? Is it muscle cars? For me the 66-67 Chevelle is one of the best looking cars of the era but to get it to perform like a modern car (I'll be charitable and say modern is 2005 or so) you're spending a LOT of money. It's hard to beat this modern performance era that we...

Any CELs with Kooks Headers on CT5V BW??

The graph above exposes the problem when someone just posts peak numbers..."it only added 15hp, pfff, lame!". But when you look the curves, they are train tracks; +40hp and +55tq all through the meat of the rev range. Excellent!

    Proximity Locking Questions

Getting a stolen car back is adding a layer that I wasn't including, but could not agree more. I guess I'm a lot more adverse than some to the hassle and out of pocket costs to get a replacement.

    Proximity Locking Questions

I just peak around at the indicator lamp on the side mirror for the light blink confirming that its locked. Faraday user here too. It's literally .73 of a second to remove or replace the keys in the pouch. Seems a lot less time and hassle than dealing with insurance, a shitty insurance payout...

Is it ok to park with engine on for a while?

100's of 1,000's of police interceptors say idle hours are fine. Back in the day, Ford determined 33 miles of oil life use per 1 hour of idle, but GM OLI absolutely takes idle time, outside temp, oil temp between key cycles, and myriad other data points into account. Its a VERY good system.
