Thanks for doing the math. The thing that still blows up the value proposition for EVs is that after 4-5 years you'll need a new battery. Unless things change, that new battery tends to cost at least as much as a new EV sometimes multiples of a new EV. Maybe being able to repurpose your old...

You're probably on to something. GM likely doesn't want to pay to get the entire fleet retested with 0W-40 as standard even though 0W-20 contributed to a ton of engine failures.

They must be snorting their lunches because the only "marketing" they seem to have done for either of the CT4 or CT5 since launched is to let a bunch of YouTubers drive them. That may be how you reach a modern audience, but they're missing an entire segment that still primarily consumes...

Oil was absolutely a contributing factor. Don't take it from me, take it from an expert:

One caveat to that is that many of the colors look very different in indoor lighting. To really see how good they are, you'll want to see them in real sunlight. My $0.02.

The original guidance to dealers was to check the ECU for evidence of the problem (IIRC cam phase alignment). If the ECU hadn't recorded the engine as out of spec, the dealers were to change the oil to 0W-40 Supercar, swap out the oil fill cap with a "0W-40" cap, and give the customer a new page...

I saw a lot of 4BW Ct4s seem to have issues with the headlights going yellow due to the led driver unit going bad. Should be pretty common for the dealer to be replacing headlights under warranty.
